Moments

Moments have always sucked but this year seems to be a new level. Lots of CPU dotting pitches or refusing to throw strikes, fouling of countless pitches in pitching moments until the inevitable hit, and generally just random and inconsistent exit velocities on balls squared up and lined right at a fielder or just back to the warning track. Not sure what it is but just another example of the game feeling unnecessarily annoying and tedious.

You don’t like facing 9 platinum award winners all at one time?

Yeah between the diving plays, pitchers nibbling or missing wildly, and eagle eyed hitters it’s comically bad.

You do some that you think are impossible on a single try and take 61 at bats for a single homerun with Duke Snider. 🤬

I am always amazed at how different players of different skill levels view Moments completely differently. I am decidedly mediocre and managed to do almost all of the moments (minus Extreme which I did not even try) using zone, never switching to directional. Do I struggle occasionally? Yes. But other times I finish one that I think will be hard on the first swing of the bat so it all evens out.
Meanwhile players who I know are better than I am seem to have issues with them.
I think maybe, at least to a certain extent, it is about your expectations when starting the moments. I just assume they will all take me several attempts while others maybe assume they will be able to knock them out quickly.

I’m mediocre at best. I don’t mind failing moments a few times. What I do mind is consistently failing the same moment over and over due to Superman dives, perfect perfect fly balls that die at the wall or generally good input being repeatedly punished. As you said earlier I too have had my share of moments where they lasted all of one pitch and my input was awful. The sheer randomness gets me. I’m not saying perfect input should always be rewarded but it should be the majority of the time and often in moments something just feels “off” like they are intentionally slowing down your progression to prevent completion too fast.

They wouldn’t be so impossible if the CPU didn’t somehow get a massive lead and equally massive momentum boost every single time. Makes the garbage pitchers even worse.
