The player skill level in this game is insane to me

It’s insane to me how many legitimately good players there are now in this game. It seems like 95% of the time I’m playing someone who is well above average. I remember being pretty darn good back in 15-19 and now everyone is an absolute stud.
That is all.

Thanks man , I try .

Skill level with on-line play is absolutely insane. You can really tell when someone is just sits in the right zone for a pitch vs actually moving the PCI with every pitch.
It's absolutely insane to me when someone never misses a mistake pitch.

Agreed. I think a few things are responsible: Showdowns helped to teach the player base to be more patient at the plate. Far fewer bad swings are rewarded for hits nowadays, which also taught the player base to be more selective. Incredibly, players have adjusted to the unbelievable pitch speeds. And I also think the casual players avoid online play now. It’s too hard for them, while their opponents are too good. That skill gap makes for a less enjoyable experience for a lot of players.
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. It’s what the community asked for. “Skills don’t matter!” was a common complaint a few years ago. Well, they certainly matter now.

To add in.
The online folks/community of competitive players are playing on a Monitor where the casual gamer is not. This becomes a massive difference when head to head on line between a Monitor and a large tv.
I can quickly tell if i am playing a monitor when i can not get a single pitch past my opponent.
Once said scenario i just pitch to contact and hope for a rollover type swing.

Interesting take here. I play on a large 65' TV and recently heard im at a massive disadvantage. I tried geting 120 hertz play, but the TV simply wont allow it.
MLB The Show is the only game I play against overs online, so it seems crazy to invest money just because of MLB.
That said, im strongly considering it. I wish there was a way for me to test the difference.

Yup I have played Madden , online shooters and golf competitively and this game is probably the hardest I have ever played.
Some dudes have some serious skill.

The amount of 12-0 folks I'm coming across in this event is insane. I've played this game for 7-8 years and not seen anything like this before.
-
It’s partially because all that is left playing online are the die hards. Most casuals that played online have left over the past few weeks. Also lots of guys young and old with tons of free time that have sunk a ton of time and practice into the game ever since Covid.

Ill never stop slamming my pci down on a meatball down the middle bro. Don’t worry. I got you.

Exactly. Current high speed gaming monitors with fast response time are an advantage. I'm still using my >10 year old TV with "Game" mode lol

This right here. Last season I went from being a sub .250 All Star hitter (who couldn’t even make it to Hall of Fame) to a .300+ hitter that can sort of hang on Hall of Fame after I switched from TV to monitor.
