The cpu really is somethin!

Played back to back CQ games tonight. The first was in all star and I won 27-0. The second was on rookie and I won 1-0. It’s crazy.

The game plays weirdly on Rookie. I try not to ever play on it except Mini-Seasons sometimes.

I can’t hit when the ball comes in so slow. Sometimes with low velocity pitchers it feels like softball and drives me bananas. Plus, the game plays different in franchise and I can’t play that low in there or I’d win 150 games.

I’m glad someone else brought this up. The last few Conquest games on Rookie with 95-99 squads I’ve lost.
Play the same team with same starters on Vet. Rake.
I can’t explain it. All since the last update.

Yeah conquest plays awful on Rookie. Pitchers dot and hitters have eagle eyes. Very strange.

I wish they'd just admit it. That conquest Rookie is completely different than regular rookie. I was trying to grind the moonshot missions while completing the moonshot conquest map. 5 games in a row on Rookie went to extra innings and were 1-0 wins. I said screw it and played vs CPU on rookie 2 games and scored over 40 runs one game over 30 the next game. I hit about 20 Home runs in the 2 games. Went back to conquest....1-0 or 2-0 games again. It's so obvious

Totally agree. Each game mode plays so different it’s ridiculous. I feel like it’s done on purpose to slow down how fast the grind goes and also to keep players playing because if you timed up one mode it would transfer too easily to the rest of the game. By manipulating things under the hood it keeps people on the game, prolongs the grind, and increases the likelihood they will purchase stubs. It’s brilliant business wise in the short term but if you tick off enough of the player base long term it won’t end well. As I’ve mentioned before this years game feels a lot like work and I’m not having anywhere near the fun I’ve had in the past 3 years just playing the game.

One of my main issues with DD. Rookie should be consistent regardless of mode.
In fact, one of the things that madden does well is to have rookie mode play like rookie mode. You score so much that you are encouraged to try and play at a higher level. Or you get tired of scoring so much, you try a higher level of difficulty.
DD does not do that. It may say “Rookie”, but pitch speeds, gold glove fielders, 50-Rated pitchers dotting corners, and 1-0 extra inning Conquest games say otherwise. (Not even getting into showdown)
So, I’m not encouraged to play at higher levels at all. And why would I? Same shenanigans, just faster pitch speeds.
On rookie level, the user should get ALL the breaks. The CPU needs to be a complete “dummy” and fumble and stumble around.
IMO. Of course.

Totally agree. It does not encourage new people to pick up and play the game at all. Even on rookie all modes except vs CPU require you to wait for your pitch while the cpu nibbles to death and throws more balls then strikes. I blame it on a lot of factors and not a single conspiracy theory. Trying to cater to too many audiences, the least of which should be the elite players that live on the game, is the biggest problem. The learning curve is so steep most newbies give up and the changes made over the past couple of years are driving away a good number of casual players. In the end all you have left are goons and whales.

Yeah the control stat means absolutely nothing on rookie. Commons with 40ish control look like prime Greg Maddux. I'm just trying to knock out missions in a very long grind and doing so on a lower difficulty which already means less pxp (I think).
Obviously they changed this to slow down progression. But when the grind is already really long it just seems unnecessary. Kind of like so many of the changes this year.
