Can we start a petition to get Armando Gallaraga a Perfect Game milestone card to recognize his achievement that was blown by Jim Joyce?

No thanks. I’d rather have Andres.

Ahhh el gato grande! Loved him. As far as the perfect game bid for the other, I’ve never understood why they wouldn’t just amend the record and give it to him. The ump blew the call and I remember seeing the guy weeping and asking for the forgiveness of Armando, which he granted immediately.

Such a great life lesson there…kids, own your mistakes in life…people respect that.

I like it better the way it is. It's a 28-out 9 inning complete game shutout, absolutely one of a kind, and although it can't really be called a perfect game even in the imagination, due to a baserunner reaching (no matter the cause), it's likely never going to be replicated due to replay, so it was as absolutely unique a feat in sport as we'll ever see. The follow-up with player and umpire reconciling just makes it even better. It's one of the greatest gems for me, in a sport just filled with them.

Pedro Martinez also got 28 outs in a row when he took his perfect game into the 10th inning and retired the first batter, but then gave up a double and was pulled (but won the game). Back in the 50s, Harvey Haddix lost his perfect game in the 13th (!) inning on a throwing error, then lost the game on a homer (later called a double due to Hank Aaron's baserunning error). He would have had 36 outs consecutively before the throwing error to start the 13th inning.

I still want to know why Miguel Cabrera never got 3,000 hit Milestone card.
