It's a lot harder to hit a slider up and away...when you don't know it's coming.

Without looking it up, who gave up Roger Maris' 61st HR at Yankee Stadium in 1961?
I didn't know that off the dome. But I know who gave up Bonds record breaker over Hank Aarons all time. Because he is on sports radio here in DFW. Mike Bacsik

Funny. Altuve hit a slider up and away and pulled it to left field for a home run and he was able to do that because of a buzzer? I guess you just watch from a sofa and don't know just how hard this game is. It is even harder on a Major League level. You are just hiney hurt because your team lost at home. I'm going to do you a favor. Bye Bye now.
That was more over the middle lol. Just a hanger. Well guess it could be considered away. But was a strike

That’s hilarious. I was explaining the intricacies of physical attribute embellishment to my son last night and used your example of Altuve and I ain’t kidding.

I’ve got one no one will get. Who was the first IF to join the 30/30 club? Hint: he’s friggin awesome

Oof this is a lot tougher than I thought it was going to be. I know Joe Carter and Howard Johnson both had 30/30 seasons in ‘87. Johnson played 3B for sure, and I think Carter might’ve played 1B that season more than the outfield. Am I close??

Your smoldering about to combust.
Hint this IF made the club three times. He and a teammate also were the first and only to ever be in the club as teammates in the same season

I believe you might be right about Carter. 1988 was the year Canseco became the first 40/40 player (40 Hrs and 42 steals)

Howard Johnson it is! The teammate was definitely Straw. I loved watching HoJo at the plate back in the day! Switch hitter and threat at the dish and on the base paths. He struck out what was considered a lot at the time but in today’s game you wouldn’t even bat an eye about those strikeout numbers

Yessssssssss WTG and what I wouldn’t give for a HOJO milestone card

Here we go with that switch hitting hotel chain again LOL

Follow up. Name all the teams he pitched for over his indomitable career in chronological order. I won’t ask for the years but I know them

You are correct. Who did he pass to become the all time single season record holder for strikeouts? And how many did that person have?

It's from back in the day when men were men and pitched well over 300 innings in a season. In a 4 man rotation to boot.
