This is why I buy cards even when I don't want to use them. I must have picked him up and locked him in a long while ago.

I was doing this with all captains to try them out. Didn't expect that kind of price increase though.

What is the significance of 99 in durability? I truly don’t know but I’ll tell you what I thought it was…I thought it was a rating to keep your player from getting injured. I’m guessing that either that’s not truly what it is, or (and more than likely the case) that I simply don’t play in the modes where having this would make a difference.
I will say this about Cal Jr….if ever there was someone in realitywho had a 99 in durability it would be him. To be a 6’5”, 220lb short stop (just incredible) and to play 2632 consecutive games over 24 years (think about all the years of baseball he had BEFORE the majors) has got to be one of the most phenomenal achievements of all time!
Heck fire, it’d be an impressive streak in ANY occupation if you ask me!

What's more impressive that he was able to cause a rainout to keep the streak going. Seems his wife was stepping out with a famous actor.
99 Durability probably means nothing in DD but the boost is significant and most high level cards are at 99.

I believe durability is only important in RTTS to avoid injuries, in DD it matters only because all cards with 99 durability get a boost from Cal.
And yes, Cal was just built different, the dude didn’t like to miss days of work. I am 100% that he played through minor injuries a lot of times.

Thank you for the clarification I knew there had to be more to it. You’re unquestionably correct about Cal playing through injury.
Man I’ll never forget his performance in the 2001 All Star Game and him knowing it was his last one.
