I mean, they gave away a 99 Judge last month. The lightning cards being 99 early in the year is made possible by the set/season system. Otherwise they would be 96-98 at this point. The system is not perfect, but there are some pros.

I just assumed they would hold it back as a Top Tier card in the All Star program.
It is nice to see them give POTM to the deserving players. I wished they had started that trend last year when I could have had nice Arenado and Goldschmidt cards earlier in the year.

I don’t think it would do much dropping due to rarity and most people already not being able to use the card anyways online.

If you really wanted him you would learn to flip. I could buy 24 of him right now. I just put in bids in between games and rebuy on orders that went thru and list to sell. Then cancel all buy orders before I go to bed. Stubs add up fast once you find your niche.

Makes perfect sense since Set 1 SO will be going the way of the dinosaur today.
This highlights one of the drawbacks of Seasons. They're just going to start reissuing Trouts and Ohtanis and and all the other 99's from set 1 that fall off the cliff today.
I really don't like the set up this year.
I stopped grinding DD weeks ago and am playing franchise almost exclusively now. Which is not a bad thing.

Hate to say it, but he’ll likely have low vision and not amazing pitching attributes. Hopefully not, but we’ll see.

Last year I quickly found out that it brought out the worst in me (this and monopoly…I’m banned from participation on board game night) so this year I’ve simply avoided it. Why don’t one of you savvy guys do up a nice tutorial or tip sheet for those of us who are juggling loss of brain cells and too many baseball stats in the old noodle? I’d certainly appreciate it.

I'd keep it simple if I were you. I would flip the two set 2 cards rated 90 that are routinely available at quicksell. Buy them at 8000 and sell them at 9000. Only 100 gain per flip but it is mindless and all orders go through in 24 hours usually.
If you have 100k stubs it would take you 3 days or less to earn enough to buy him. And there is zero risks because these two aren't live series and will never be downgraded so if you choose to quick sell them you break even.

I had sixty grand worth but I bought the shohei card that was mentioned so I’ve got 25k or so left now. I will try that and see if I can start to turn some profit. I tried just buying a live card the other day and bid five stubs more than the current leader which had like multiple hundred cards but when I came back the next day someone had bid a stub more than me for a quantity of eighty. I just wanted one card to have the Brewers team set. That’s the kind of stuff that makes me want to pass on it. It brings out the “Nasty Bunny” in me haha if I were to name it
