Let me start by saying that I am an average offline player. Not sure if that impacts my question, but thought I'd mention it.

I flip cards online when I have breaks at work, and recently finished the Live Series collection... I now have about 250k to work with. My original plan was to buy missing Set 1 cards to put towards that collection (I only have Chipper but wanted Pedro and/or Babe as well) but I then came to the realization that if I push to get those cards now I'll only be able to use them for a few weeks before Set 1 becomes obsolete, which seems like a waste.

So, any advice on what cards to buy at this point? Unless I'm missing something, these Sets seem like a stupid idea.

Ok, so you mainly play offline modes?

Just because Set 1 cards are 'expiring' it doesn't necessarily mean you won't be able to use them at all. You just won't be able to use them in Set Specific Offline/Online modes.

You should still be able to field a team full of Set 1 players, while running up the score in a 9 inning game, and still get stats. You just won't be able to use them, albeit as a WC spot, in Ranked and some Events.

But do know that since there is an option to exchange Set 1 cards in the TN/MA program; they're at a premium right now.

Plus I have a feeling that we're going to need all of the Set Collection players on down the road.
