They're definitely messing with the way you can make stubs.

I was not necessarily referring to stubs they directly give you, but you are doubling your wheel spins or progress on the path. You can sell what you earn, which is more stubs than you need. If you keep all the rewards you earn you probably do not need anything from the auction house. We end up with a bunch of players and stubs we really do not need.
Honestly, you are probably already at a point where you do not need to update your team.

    A couple of points:

First, many people will need to update their team before all of their Set 1 cards expire in a month.

Second, you absolutely can't use yourself as an example. Your profile shows 462 hours played already. The game released 10 weeks ago. So you have basically turned it into a full time job, averaging more than 40 hours a week. Of course double XP is going to benefit you more with that kind of playtime, but don't make the assumption that others can invest that much time into the game. I would assume you are in the top 2%-5% of players as far as time played.

And that is not a knock on your play time. If you have that much free time and you enjoy the game then more power to you, but most don't have that much free time to invest.

Great post as I think those that can put serious hours into the game grinding can’t relate to the vast majority that play this game in their free time. It’s not a knock on them just saying it’s comparing apples and oranges.

I have 1435 hours logged. I leave my console on and logged into the game all day every day. I simply forget to turn it off. I play maybe an hour and half a day, MAYBE two hours on weekends.

I wouldn't use time on the game as a reflection of how much time people actually spend playing the game.

That is strange. You would think that when the game disconnected you from the server for inactivity that it would stop accumulating hours, especially in DD.

Yeah usually it will disconnect you from the server. Those that claim they leave their console on seems kinda like an excuse to cover up how much time they actually play the game. No matter how you slice it there is no way you are keeping up with all the programs playing an average of 2 hours per day. We all know many players log 10-12 hours per day on the regular. I don’t care how you choose to spend your free time but at least be honest with it so people aren’t misled into thinking they can accomplish in 2 hrs what takes people 10+ hours to accomplish. Turning on and off the console takes 2-3 seconds tops.

Exactly... the servers will boot you after a while of inactivity. It's been this way for years. Anybody claiming they can keep up with ALL this content by playing an hour or two a day is full of it 100%... I play at least 2 hours a day on average, and I'm not even close to keeping up with it. There's no way your convincing anybody who plays this game regularly you are keeping up with all this as a casual 10 hour a week player. It takes a ton of time to just complete the team affinity alone... nevermind the countless other stuff. You could be a God skillwise, but you still need to play the games and PXP 100's of players to be caught up. The people who have EVERYTHING done right now are hard core players, and simple as that.

I have a 6-4 ranked record and something like 20-25 coop games played with a friend. My son and I have done a bit of MTO and RTTS. I did do mini seasons during TA1. None is this comes close to accounting for 60 total days of nonstop game play which is what 1435 hours equates to. 60 days and the game has only been out for 69 days so which is more likely?

Same. My PS5 turns off after 4 hours, but I usually leave it on to charge the headset and remotes. A lot of people look at the time the game shows, but without any context.

I don't think anybody is insinuating you played 1400 hours. I was only saying you definitely are not "caught up" with content playing 1-2 hours a day... it's just not possible.

I had thousands of unopened packs, almost every card in the game and 5 million stubs last season.

I highly recommend the controller charger. You can put a couple on there. You can also plug your headset into any USB port. Just throwing some options out there for you to save on having your console on needlessly.

It is a little more blatantly obvious this year though.

I appreciate your posts Dolenz and this is not a go - but how is this the correct angle here?

I literally finished almost all collections with 0 buying stubs, just playing MINIMAL amounts over the past months

I did not say that you could not do it with no money spent but, from what I can tell, you are reliant on pack luck or flipping/investing.

The reason I say it is blatantly obvious is because.

    • POTM Cards are No Sell this year.
    • Cards earned through the BR program (and maybe other online programs) are no sell.
    • They are releasing 4 rare 99 overall players every week that take 100K stubs just to gamble for them (Diamond Duo packs).
    • Stubs earned through moments has been reduced.
    • I think I checked the other day and the entire Season 2 XP reward path has 11,000 guaranteed stub rewards for getting to the end. You'll have to get pack luck to make stubs.
    • Season 2 XP reward path - half of the Kaiju and Incognito packs (2 out of 4) you earn are No Sell and those are the earliest ones you earn. You have to get to 380K XP to get the first of those packs that is sellable.
    • Stubs earned in Showdowns has been reduced. You now have to go deeper into the showdown before you break even, meaning of course more players losing stubs in the attempts.
    • You get a weekly wonders program once a week where you earn 200-400 stubs plus any commons and bronzes in the standard packs (so maybe 1000 total). Of course they are releasing 100K worth of packs in that same time span.
    • The stubs you spent on set one will be worth little come season 3. Same for Set 2 cards come season 4. It's a treadmill to keep players spending.

So, as I said, it can be done without ever buying a stub and kudos to those who do just that, but given all of the above I am not sure how anyone can say that SDS are not trying to more aggressively entice players to go to the store to buy stubs to in order to keep up.

i hear you completely here ok but i have hardly been playing, 0 market flipping, only a couple mid 80's diamonds in packs, only did WBC program + mostly events and RS (hardly any too for that matter)

just doing programs and online play got me almost enough to stubs to finish the AL and NL collection

i would say based on this alone - that stubs are just fine being made by playing - my experience is based on Season 1 anyways - and a lot of your points relate to this new system they are developing - which i agree with you on - SDS has been a joke for years top down needs a big shake up in my opinion
