What About Bob (Feller)?!?!
-
No...not Gibson!
Rapid Robert...Mr. Bob Feller.
Is it just me or does this card get very little respect?
I see posts talking about the best pitchers in the game, and he's rarely mentioned.
Is it because he has one of those "old timey" deliveries?
He's got maybe the best fastball in the game...a regular (not Circle) Changeup with a BIG difference in MPH from his Fastball. He also has a nasty Slider, a very good Sinker, and a 12-6 for the occasional mix up.
Personally, he's my best pitcher and it's not really close. Gibson is up there too....and I'm always really tough with Fergie Jenkins for some reason - that Forkball is wicked!
But Feller is a beast and no one seems to mention him.
I've struck out 73 in 37 IP with him so far. Thrown TWO Perfect Games in Ranked Seasons with him.
Thoughts on the Feller card...?
-
its because he was a br reward.

Just want to add that What about Bob is an absolute classic!
"Ahoy, I'm sailing!

It's a great card, I love all of Bob Feller's card and this one plays really well. Fastball that can be dotted and hit 104 is crazy. I regrettably havn't used it as much as other cards but its also great for a Guardians team build.

Same. A week or so in, I realized I was above average at pitching and below average hitter…especially for power. First thought was to load up on great hitters and skimp by with average pitchers.
Instead, I decided to play to my strengths and loaded up on arms…Feller, Gibson, Jenkins, Walter Johnson…Hoffman as Captain and cheap/free bullpen arms.
Then right before the move to Season 2…I sold off all those pitchers and many of my sellable cards. Ended up being decent decision in terms of value, but I wish I would’ve just kept all this arms and played with them.
Got some miles out of Musgrove captain with the TN cards like Springs, Lodolo, Rich Hill, and Senga…but wasn’t as fun or effective. Nolan Ryan captain was okay for awhile…with Wainright, Sale, Kershaw, Rich Hill…and boosted my bullpen too.
But…the best move for fun, enjoyment, and also wins was running Feller, Gibson, Jenkins, and Johnson out there with the juiced up bullpen.
And using the Jeter captain to give me huge +15 contact boosts and +15 clutch. All those free Captains you collect along the way aren’t too far behind some of the 97/99s if you’re a below average hitter who has to manufacture runs.
-
I just find his PAR is way to big. Very erratic. Hung alot of pitches

Thats my rotation exactly, Feller, Gibson, Jenkins, Walter Johnson, and it was Dontrelle Willis but it is now Pedro Martinez until I get Randy Johnson.

Dreyfus is hilarious in that movie. The scene where Bob is eating the chicken and moaning how good it is with every bite is one of the best of actors playing off each other. Dreyfus looks like his head is gonna explode!
"[censored] a doodle doo BOB!"
I gotta watch that now LOL

I haven't had that problem...but I don't play against elite players often.
I've had that problem with Nolan Ryan (the Captain and the 99) and Randy Johnson Captain too.
I even had the control issues with the 99 Nolan Ryan WITH the Roy Oswalt Astros captain boost.
-
I love Bob . His slider is hard to control but he's pretty nasty.
-
Easy to read, poor control, large PAR, good players can hit fastballs so you don’t see him in good players lineups often for that reason.
-
year after year he's been my favorite pitcher to use as control issues just make up for my poor input at times
-
His control seems to play a lot worse than his stats. But the main reason you don't see him much is his price just seems to be stuck and won't go down as he was BR reward and don't think you can get him anywhere but Market
