BR program unsellable too. Thanks streamers

I have to believe the removal of the 1 pt for every ranked win must be a mistake.

I’ve been playing year round for the past few versions. In recent years I’ve been buying the $100 version to support SDS the independent company because all things considered they make a great product and don’t force you to spend money to be competitive. I have Gamepass so I could most definitely get it for free. However, with this recent change to rewards being no-sells I see the unfortunate direction it’s heading. My desire to play has disappeared suddenly and I’m not sure how long this feeling will last. I hope they reverse this decision and realize it goes against their “grind 99” prerogative. RIP to BR and RS as there is no incentive for me to play anymore.

Well that's enough for me. Finish this year and call it a day. Every year they have cut ways to make stubs. Shat on my favorite player two years running (Mays) and put Godzilla in the game. How much more stupid can it get. I'm old anyway and should be done playing video games.
Two things can be true at the same time. They find ways to make more $, of course, but they've also massively "democratized" DD so that casuals can get almost all the same cards by grinding.
Your last sentence might be it. At 49, I often feel the same way...

Is this a thing??? If it is, then THAT'S the chance people should be up in arms about. WTF, SDS...really...

It's BS for SDS to cater to the 1% that go 12-0 and make WS to have sellable cards. It just makes it harder to collect everything at a reasonable price. I had to spend about a 650k stubs to finish Set 1 and it looks like I won't finish Set 2. I thought I was set up nicely for it too.

Designing a reward structure that only benefits less than 1% of your customers is a terrible strategy.
But hey, at least they won’t have to hear oh chev cry anymore.
I agree with you and I am a WS player. Never gone 12-0. If you just play the game and are not an elite (12-0 player), you simply can't make enough stubs to afford to buy the Tatis' or Mantle's.
I am a good player, not great or elite, and play a TON and I haven't completed LS collections or have enough stubs to get either of those players. Part of why I haven't got LS done is I can't hit with RH hitters anyway so McGwire is a complete waste.
Also something people don't think about is with the BR flawless retaining their ridiculous value more, the more goons you will have in BR making it even more difficult for the casual player to finish the program or afford any of the other ones.
SDS going down a bad path this year imo. -

I don't know. The game throws cards and stubs at you like crazy. Making WS and BR PROGRAM rewards no-sell isn't a huge deal to me. You used to only be able to get them by achieving WS or 12 wins...then you could get one just by working the program...now you can get one but can't sell it. Fine by me. There needs to be a demarcation between those who earn it through skill (I never will) and those who just grind innings/missions. The game monetized DD for sure, but this isn't heavy-handed. C'mon man.
Disagree. I play a ton and can't afford Mantle right now.
There is a line between those who earn it through skill and those who grind. The skill players can get there through innings and skill, grinders only get it through grinding. Better players can get 2 rewards. It is what I do in RS. I get one card making WS and one through program. BR I can only get one through the program as I have never been flawless.

How do streamers benefit from this?

I don’t really know. I heard a few complaining about it a while now. One steamer I mean streamer had a whole bit about it. He complained about the rewards about mlb stadiums being terrible and play in custom stadiums. It just goes on and on with the complaining. Some of these streamers are pretty cool and don’t like the way things are going so I don’t think they all fall in th this.

If fewer sellable rewards cards are in circulation, guys who can go 12-0 multiple times can sell them for massively huge profits. Prices stay higher. 12-0 goons farm BR for stubs. They get the flawless reward plus one high diamond.

I don’t like the move, but let’s not act like it’s some conspiracy against “casuals.”
Their motivation is to make money by selling stubs. All these changes have been geared toward that. Every company’s goal to make money. It’s not evil. It’s not personal. It’s capitalism.
Yep. More specifically they want to increase Stub sales more as the game cycle moves forward...and before they have to compete for players (and revenue) with new games/team modes from EA and 2K in the fall.
This game likely had few issues with selling Stubs when the game comes out...the first 4 to 6 weeks were likely always good for bringing in revenue...it's after that when it gets iffy.
By breaking it up like they did...they are hoping the players ADDICTED to getting EVERY card will eventually fork over real money to feed their addiction. Especially after they've already started collecting.
There is something about "uncompleted tasks" psychologically that many people struggle with. SDS wants to use that psychology against them in order to make more money.

I can definitely see both sides of this argument. But I'm completely ok with them doing this.
A couple years ago I never would've been able to use the WS or BR cards because I'm not good enough to make WS or go 12-0. And I wouldn't be able to buy them because I'd never have enough stubs. So I'm cool with being able to get 1 even I can't sell it. And if I'm not interested in any of the rewards I just won't play.
The amount of people who just seem to play video games for the rewards blows my mind. If you're doing it that way you're doing it wrong.
-
I'm actually LESS likely to buy stubs this way. I know I won't get every card, but I aim to collect all the Oakland A's. If they put one in BR and it's too difficult I'd consider buying stubs to purchase it. Now there's no reason to if/when that happens.

I have no intention of touching ranked because of this change, now I just might not touch BR either. BR program requirements should be lowered by 75% if it's going to be no sell. The changes to drive people to buy stubs and cater to 1% like these no-sell packs are really souring me on this game.
Every time I say they are going the route of EA sports I get ripped to shreds but looks like I was right after all.

They have a monster program that came out on Friday. The cards for big league players have a monster theme and then there are special ballparks for moments and showdown that feature the monsters.
-
OK. I remember something similar in Madden many years ago where you could draft a team and play in a league against fake CPU teams. Each team had a "special" skill and a weakness that could be exploited. One team was called the monsters and their "special" skill was that if you tackled their QB it was an automatic "roughing the passer", so you had to be good at controlling the MLB or CB against that team to win, because their line would let blitzers in on purpose to get the free penalty.

This is basically exactly how I feel. I would have never been able to get these cards up until a couple years ago, so I don't really mind that they aren't sellable. I only really grind out a program if its a card I want to use anyway.

I actually think they are going the way of EA as well, unfortunately. I just don't understand why they choose this path. 2 flawless packs ( 1 program+12-0 pack ) plus a 90+ which sells for 100-150k stubs isn't enough for their fragile egos. No, let's take away from the avg and casual players as well and make sure that 1% know they are extra special. If they wanted to make sure the 12-0 was worth it, then why not add the 99 chase pack rewards to the 90+ possible pool of cards? Simple solution that doesn't punish or take away from anyone.

I love the BR program this year. Someone explain to me why no sell benefits streamers? I’m genuinely asking…
