Diamond dynasty feels stale way to fast
-
About me - Was a hardcore franchise only player from show 05-15 with 16 started to get into diamond dynasty and stopped playing franchise.
Its not the game modes though showdown has always been annoying to me but this years setup of 97s at every position obtainable so quickly. My lineup is now 97s all around with 2 99s i got in packs and im at the point where getting anymore cards isnt worth the grind because im like is that 97 im about earn really any better than all the other ones i got. And sure i could have 99s all around but it just doesn’t excite me or make me want to grind for it. Going through the forums it seems like most is happy with the changes this year but for me having a team full of golds and earning low level diamonds and building towards a team of 93-95 diamons slowly was more rewarding. I just dont feel compelled to play DD anymore when everyone has the same lineup of 97-99s and to battle it out in hours of events and ranked
to get a 99 that isnt that significantly better than all my 97s.Anyway started up a new franchise and though i know its had little love over the years im enjoying just playing as my mets and trying to get to the world series 1 game at a time again. If this is the route they will continue for next year think my DD days may be over. Just my feelings

Comma and period.

People get triggered that instead of everyone having the same 85s, then the same 90s, then the same 95s and then finally the same 99s, everyone has all the same 99s quicker. You’re the last straw so I’m replying this on you.

I agree. It feels boring and there is no strategy.
Why do I need to do Live Series collections? For rewards that are outdated? For McGwire, Sosa, and Jeter...who are maybe slightly better than cards in the Marketplace...or in Affinity?
Why do I need Captains? So I can give boosts to BAD cards that still leave me at a huge disadvantage against cards like WBC Lindor and Murakami that have been out for WEEKS and aren't even expensive...?
I honestly feel like the players enjoying it the most are OFFLINE players who now have STUDS to destroy the CPU with. Maybe some of the higher level players who love to play the game later in the year when it's 97/99's at every position.
But...those of us who enjoyed the EARLY stages of the game and the slower creep towards the later stages of 97/99's everywhere...we are the ones bummed out.
I can remember last year I started the game 3 or 4 weeks after launch and Kirk Gibson was still a pretty DOPE card. Some of the reward cards you could earn playing the mode actually were USEFUL and playable. Now they are just a +1 to add to the Set Collection for Jazz and Trea Turner and so on...
Given how some of it has played out...I honestly think it was a hastily made last minute decision.

dude with the strategy, just because you are using high overalls does not mean strategy is not in place. No good player is blindly walking into ranked game without their bench, set up properly, platoon guys, etc. It's always " no strategy involved" what is your ranked record? Have you made Ws? Have you played this game against high level players? Have you played DD on legend ? Its a virtual baseball game where people hit the ball and pitch the ball if you want to play battleship go play out of the park baseball and you can have your "strategy" this game is no different then years past, the cards are just better which helps game play, ranked was never meant to be played with bad cards. Its called "Diamond Dynasty" for a reason. Not bronze dynasty.

Each season is gonna fire things up again though. Yes it has luls in between content. But it will be refreshed many times throughout the year.
Not saying this is the best way to go, but I would rather give it a year and see how it plays out. The captains would have been a great addition in years past. Not so much this year though.

Yes, i was stoked to get david wright and then alonso and make a an all mets boosted team until i realized theres no point unless they had a true teams only mode. I have yet to find a captains combo of players that are better than any 97+ randoms team ive made. Thebpast years with the slow grind would have been great to have captains.
I guess my main gripe is that all the cards feel pretty much the same now . Like grinding threw the topps now mode to grt a bunch of 88s and 91s i dont want to play with to earn a 95 makes no sense when in years past it was worth it because it truly did improve your team to get that final monthly card.
Im not knocking the people that are enjoying DD im just saying i preferred the old style slow grind. Its just not nearly as rewarding or fun to play this year when everyone has 97+ teams after two weeks and the “special” card you earn after really putting in sometime in online play are not a significant upgrade over the players they would replace on your team. And buying packs arent even worth the gamble at all anymore

I wish there were more programs to do early on. I stink online so I jump on when I need a break from the team affinity grind. My boyfriend hates offline content and only plays ranked seasons. I don't know how people do it, it's a very frustrating experience. March to October is pretty fun though, so I may do more of those.

They did too much at once this year.
I applaud SDS for not being afraid to shake things up. But like others have observed, the Captains mechanic, which is a great concept, is all but canceled out by the over-proliferation of 97-99 cards. Looking back, I think they'll realize they should have done captains this year and then made the move to full steroid era next year so that they could have thought out how captains could still remain relevant.
We still have to see how Season 2 plays out, though. I'm sure SDS is taking notes and will tweak things to try to keep interest high. I'm not sure they'll be able to for many.

they're going to add better captain cards as the year goes also the David wright captain build, Buck Oneil captain build and Trevor Hoffman captain boosts for the bullpen make for some very good builds for team building.

The Buck O'Neal build is outclassed by most god squads. The Wright one has massive cost associated with it (Howard is $$$, Tatis is $$$, etc.). The Hoffman one was great early-cycle and still is, but there are so many 97-99 closers that it's quickly becoming irrelevant.
They need to get more creative. Perhaps adding quirks?

more creative like adding quirks to cards as they come out, TA season 3 i can only imagine you'll see an AL All star Captain and an NL All Star captain... making cards better as the game cycle progresses making captains more viable...hmm sounds like they know what they are doing.
