This would help tremendously. I think these are the type of small tweaks that could really improve things. Or maybe even make it where the boost is bigger for the lower cards. Meaning if you have bronzes that meet the requirement, they are boosted more than a 95 is boosted. I don't know the perfect answer, but I think some creativeness is needed. It is not simply "change the number" to get a solution.

Not at all. The Live Series captains are useless. Sure they lowered the requirements per tier (by 1) but lets be real...say your favorite team is the Blue Jays. Is it worth it to add bronze and commons to your DD roster just so you can mash with Kirk, Vlad, Springer and Bichette? There are already better options than those cards that dont require an entire roster to be handcuffed to a 88 overall like Delgado.

That’s a great idea. I think captains would have been more viable in past years, but with 97-99s from day one, live series cards just don’t stand a chance, even with captain boosts.

I don't know that they will ever make the live series captains useful. Alex Lange is nice in BR but no one is putting live series Tigers cards in their pitching rotation period. SDS and everybody that wants live series cards to be useful just needs to give it up. It's not happening. The team affinity captains are good in theory but there just isn't enough decent cards for each team to make that work right now.

Live Series cards are only useful for collecting and getting the big rewards.

Will the update cause me to use them more? No.
I am already using Wainwright on my Cardinals team in spite of the negative trait that detracts from all my pitchers K/9
I can't even afford Musial yet due to the skyrocketing prices of Arenado and Goldschmidt.

The LS captains are tied to set 1. I am imagining that the captains we will bet for season 2 will affect LS + Flashbacks for that team while set 3 captains will impact LS+ flashbacks + legends.
The problem comes in where you would need to replace the Captain cardy you earned with the LS card you grinder to purchase. I have LS Ohtani. In what world would I want to replace my 95 Ohtani with an inferior one? I want PXP on my LS Ohtani who will be viable all year, not the temp. Same will be true when I get Judge, Machado, etc. All captain cards should have been legends.

I used the Griffey Jr LS Captain card a lot in the first week of the game. For the past week, I have used several other LS Captains to create teams to grind out vs CPU games for TA programs. I think this is pretty much re only use for LS Captains.
I think a captain for any LS cards regardless of team would be more useful as one can build a great team with LS diamonds.

Man I would love to use a Redsox captain, but with Live Series Mookie in my lineup.

The ones from the Team collections are actually Core aren't they? The captains earned in Team Affinity are labeled as Set 1 though.

I agree with that! I think if SDS added Captain abilities to him for all LS, Sammy for all NL LS, and Big Mac for all AL LS would boost number of LS cards used.

I wish captain boosts would work for all cards for said team and not just live series. That’s really my only complaint. I think it’s been a GREAT addition to the game!!! Much needed.

I really like the captains idea, but still just feel like it requires too much for a significant benefit. I really haven't looked at the requirements in a few weeks now, but when the game launched I felt like I would really need to be at the highest tier for it to really pay off. If I remember correctly, for LS captains to reach tier 3 it was 11 hitters from the same team. So, now that will still require 10 hitters. If I were to use the Rangers, which I don't think is the worst option, it would require me to play four golds, one silver and five bronze to reach the requirement.
As much as I love the idea, I just think it easier to make my own team however I want with the countless other cards available. I do think that supercharged and captains could do a lot for LS and I think the execution of supercharged has been much more consistent this year, but the captains thing just seems to be a bit out of touch. Thoughts?
the players getting boosted can be on your bench... only the captain needs to be in the lineup.
I personally feel like the Live Series captains are there to make using the LS cards worthwhile but in all honesty I'd prefer to just use the Captain from Team Affinity since it boost Live Series, Flashbacks and Legends cards from that team.
At the end of the day it will be interesting to see what they do with Captains in Set 2 and beyond since the Captains from Team Affinity 1 are only (at this moment) available for Seasons 1 & 2.

And by the time there are enough cards to make a good theme team most those cards will have expired for online play.

You can unlock Captains for the whole team via Team Affinity, not sure what they do going forward after the Set 1 cards though but I imagine Season 2 and beyond will still give us Captain cards to unlock in future Team Affinity programs.

Also, all the pxp missions kinda make it hard to have a lineup full of players you want, let alone a theme team.
I would love to just use astros players, but I have to constantly be using other teams because the team affinity programs are taking forever.

It’s a bit weird on this game. If you only play offline I could see doing it with your favorite team here and there but that would eventually get boring. Might as well just go play franchise at that point. And online you’d probably be at a huge disadvantage. Maybe they will eventually have events with only full theme teams.
The thing about madden is most people flock to the best theme teams early where a lot of times they are on par with the best teams available. Maybe even better sometimes. Then later in the year when everybody is a 97-99 they fool around with their favorite team if it wasn’t a top one early or they change around their team to use different players.

I see no difference with the requirements for players used with captains . I have JT and Lee for my Philies TT and the requirements are the exactly the same.

I tried using a LS White Sox team using Konerko as a Captain, and... it didn't go well at all. It's mainly a "user problem", but even if I was good, it wouldn't have mattered much.
