I really wish that there was a wimp mode for online play. Meaning that I really wish I could play online and not have to deal with fielding, throwing and the like. If I could play that style I would be far more interested in playing online. Without that ability, Online game play is pretty much dead to me even if there is some reward that I may want to try to play for.
I'm not ever going to be that good at fielding and throwing and because of that I skip those modes that require me to field and throw. I play to have fun, have limited time for my gaming as is, and don't need to be sitting here cursing my gaming system and/or this game because it forces me to play a style that I don't want to play. I swear it really makes me want to not ever buy another version of the game again as doing so would be a waste of my limited gaming budget.

I just want a mode where you can use only classic pitching and timing hitting.

You wouldn't even need that if SDS AI was better at matchmaking. Between my own experience, and countless online videos you see way too many 800 level players getting free batting practice against 300 level players.

That's basically what I want. I was fine for pitching and hitting in an online ranked game and even fielding wasn't bad but as I had done no practice at all on the throwing to a base that was just a total sheet show for me. Instead of holding the lead that I had earned through my offense, my opponent ran wild on the bases -- probably while laughing his/her/their rear end off at my incompetence -- because I couldn't simply throw the ball to the base I was trying to throw to.
Could I practice and maybe get "OK" at this?!? Maybe, but I don't have that much time for playing and if it seems like work then my enjoyment level is not going to be there. I'm gonna have to remind myself to just not put money into the game. No stubs, no purchase of the game, etc.

If you can hit and pitch I’m 100% confident you learn to run towards the gigantic flashing baseball that shows you were to stand and catch the ball automatically.
The bases are in the shape of a Diamond on your controller. Hit X throw home, hit triangle throw to 2nd. Should take between 30-60 seconds to completely master both aspects of defence.

I want to buy the game, but I don't want to learn how to play it.

Except that wasn't the mechanic (for throwing) that I was given -- instead it seemed to be press the button for the base and HOLD the button until the meter got into the green (but not too long as it would then go red) and if you timed that right it would actually throw the damned ball to the base as expected.
That was in a ranked game. A mode that I typically won't go near. I was doing it because I wanted to try to progress a bit in the Easter Egg program.
Hitting the button to throw to a base is fine by me. Holding it down to put more effort into the throw is fine by me. Timing the damned button presses is just damned annoying to me.
