Base Running is driving me crazy!

I sincerely apologize if this has been asked before. I did a search and couldn’t find the exact question.
Is anyone else having trouble with base running in our RTTS 23? Sometimes my runner will be headed for another base and just stop and explicitly go the other way or sometimes he’ll run past first and just keep on going, even though I’m not telling him to. Is it Just me?

Which option you using? I use classic but this year they made LS control the runner w/ d-pad. Could that be the issue?

I stick with button controls. R2 to go forward, L2 to go back. I haven’t had any issues.
