Pitchers confidence in Showdown is not right

I'm doing the mission in the 1st inning Showdown where you have to hit 3 homeruns at Coors before the Rockies hit 1.
I put up 5 runs in 2 innings on 48 pitches. I just hit a double that scored 2 and his energy and confidence are even. I then take a ball on the very next pitch and now his confidence is a notch higher than his energy.
What world am I living in?

For the record it's 9-1 and I've only hit 1 homerun. 4 balls have hit the wall on the fly. Nothing plays with your emotions like this here.

yea I am not a fan of showdown, its pretty much a moments based mode and I have never enjoyed those, add on that I have to use stubs to play it makes it even less appealing

Haders sank like the Titanic after 30 pitches, 2 runs and 4 or 5 hits in my Elimination Matchup. Those are the only times I care about Confidence level
