LS Collection Strategy
-
I'm curious about people's collection strategies. In the past, I haven't been very proactive on the LS collections. Whenever I was lucky enough to pack a gatekeeper (or the team's last gatekeeper), I'd just go finish the collection. But that means I don't get them done until July, and I think I spend a lot more than I need to.
Right now, I have enough stubs to complete four cheap collections, or one slightly higher priced one like the Jays or Rays. If I'm going to start the collections now, which is the better strategy - volume, quality, or hold off for now because I don't have very many stubs.
Edit: Also, I don't play on-line, so this game is not an arms race for me. I'm just after long-term efficiency. I don't have to be competitive with you all.
Thanks for the input.

I don’t buy packs. Free packs are added I sell. all the extras jerseys etc. I start going through and knocking out team by team all non diamond cards. Which for most teams is about 3-5k. Then as I pull diamonds I complete the set. This way if a gold goes diamond I’m not stuck paying even more. But if a diamond goes gold…save me some stubs. Then I sell all dups to pay for diamonds. This year I did complete the padres collection first, As Tatis isn’t in it so before we get another 100+k card it’s done
I’ve completed 14 so far without spending a dime. And have all but 2 done without diamonds

I usually flip like a gymnast for a few weeks and purchase the most expensive cards (Trout, Ohtani, etc) first since they tend to go up the most once the first stub sale hits. Then I circle back to the cheaper teams.
If the cheaper teams do increase in value, it usually isn't by much. I'm pretty sure they continue to get cheaper over time since the rewards aren't as useful.

The first couple days I did nothing but work the market, put in low buy now orders for everyone and flipped as much as possible. I keep the first copy of any card I pulled and lock in everyone as I went. Have LS series done and can just enjoy the game the rest of the year now

I haven't really started flipping, but I did use my small stub pile to buy 50 LS d'Arnaud cards in anticipation of the "City Connect" program coming up in another week. Then... he gets Supercharged. Lucky on my part.

I just finished NL collection for sosa today. It was very easy compared to year's past.
My next step is to get Turner and The Japan Series lefty with max power in lieu of Mcgwire and Jeter.

Same here. Except i wanted that 99 Mike Trout so i tried for a that pack twice, second time i got him
Edit... i have 24 teams done now and need only 10 diamonds. Basically all the expensive ones. Can you guess the teams i'm missing lol

I go thru all the LS teams and put in QS bids on those cards where it is realistic to get them
You’d be surprised how many of them you get just by doing that.
As an aside, I did read on another site that the Padres might want to warrant attention, sooner than later.
Get them done before Tatis comes off suspension and his price skyrockets potentially.

Check out the team captains and go for the ones you like.

I’m not much of a flipper but saw some bargains on release date. Have 5 teams complete, building stubs for high diamonds.
-
I always start by buying all the gold cards for every team that way if they go diamond, I'm covered. After that, I grab silvers, bronzes, and commons in that order. By this time, I can pretty much sell nearly every card I get from packs. I'm not much of a flipper, and this method gets the job done for me.
As others did, I completed SD asap this year because of the Tatis situation. I also gritted my teeth as I paid nearly 1k for bronze cards on The Reds. That hurt.

great suggestions and tips guys thanks very much im sitting on 200K here thinking about what to do
-
Currently looking to complete the NL collection and have snagged the Common cards for almost every team for only 5-10 stubs each. Our front office is already on the line with Sammy Sosa discussing his future.
Keep putting those Buy Orders in, fellas!

I have 520k saved and waiting. Trying to decide if I want to knock out the Angels or do like 20 teams.

I always go for the highest players first. I pulled Trout on day 2 of early release and built enough to buy Degrom. Almost have enough again to buy Judge or Otani. I'll got for AL first since it has the most expensive players. Once I have all the diamonds, it's pretty much downhill from there.

Yeah I almost fell out of my chair when he popped up. I always try to get as many free packs as possible and open like 50 at a time. I feel like I have better luck that way.

Make sure to knock out the Padres before Tatis comes back. And I imagine Diaz will be moved to the Free Agents with the first roster update, making the Mets a little cheaper.
-
It’s also important to get the golds out of the way. If a diamond goes to a good yay save some stubs. But a gold to a diamond can kinda be harsh

This is not as bad since they changed the QS values. I don’t think it’s much of a change to be honest.
