Does anyone actually like how easy they’ve made it to get all the best players in the game? Am I the only one that actually enjoyed having to put some effort in to build my team? I played for one hour and had a full team of 90s... what’s the motivation to keep playing? I don’t see how this game lasts. 3 days in and I’m already bored. I can’t be the only one.
Basically the way I see it, instead of one long slow grind where we finally get the cards we want and half the people have stopped playing, the game will be 6 shorter cycles. Get that Chipper card and use him online all you want, come July you can’t use that specific card. Meanwhile you can work on the next card to go in his place. Personally, I think it’s a great move and most of the people I know who didn’t want the game this year are now playing and enjoying it.
I guess we’ll see how long that interest lasts. I just don’t see what’s going to keep people motivated to grind.
I’m pretty sure this change was well thought out, can’t see them doing this without any type of plan for the future

how did you get a team of 90's in an hour? unless you threw some money down for stubs.

Completely and totally agree with this statement. I almost posted it myself.
Only thing worse, that I experienced my first year playing DD (I had played Franchise for a couple years before) in 2013. I played for more hours than I like to admit I wasted and I got exactly one diamond through the first month. Joey Votto, who was like an 89. That was it.
There HAS to be a middle ground that creates a balance.
-
Without changes to the hitting this game will be dead in a month. Way to difficult for the average player to enjoy.
-
bring back the editable named cards that you could improve and could only use for a certain amount of games. or put a game limit on the cards. Ever since the introduction of these all star cards, potw cards the game is basically all 99 vs 99, throw in timing only and the game has become less user skilled and more who has the best cards and can time a fb.
dont listen to daP..dude has some issues and it shows.
now he will go on about how i got blocked on here and my posts deleted because i was criticizing the game.
also need to remove power swing and use physics and give the bat a sweet spot like in real life. But they never will because they love the HRs. Just my opinion so according to DaP IT CANT BE WRONG
-
All these 99s they are giving us are not the best cards that the games gonna have. IDK how people don't understand this. And there's guys who are gonna have more than one 99.

WBC program, lowest rewards were 90 and it was quick to get through.

I am at 95 overall and I have been having fun so far .. my issue is I can’t finish the wbc program without 5 event wins or showdown
-
I think this is the best option to make ranked playable for those who don't spend 1000s of dollars day 1 to complete all the collections. It was so daunting to try and play ranked with barely a team of golds when you knew half the matchups were people that bought the best players and sets.

This wasn’t done to keep people motivated to grind, it was done to keep casuals interested for 3 months before they all move to madden. For those of us who have played this mode for awhile it’s a fresh coat of paint, brings a bit more team building strategy into the mode for those of us who remain past July.
I understand that, but I don’t see how they hold onto casuals for 3 months. You need something to motivate you to keep playing. In the past, it was the next program with a card that was better than the guys you currently had. That pushed you to grind moments (there’s no way anyone actually enjoys these right?) and mindless games against the cpu on rookie and veteran.

You don't see whats gonna keep YOU motivated to grind. Your views more than likely arent shared by the majority though. If you're bored already, go find something else to play.
This is an odd comment. Clearly some people agree and others don’t. The show has been one of my favourite games for years, but personally I think the approach for this years game is awful. Every year, we get to a point 3-4 months into the game where the market is flooded with 99s. That is always when I get bored of the game because there’s no where to progress. This year, they’ve essentially started the game at that point.
That is my opinion. You have a different one. Which you are welcome to have.

Well there is some merit to his thoughts, there is a reason why 'leveling up' is popular in gaming in general. Starting the game with 90s-99s really takes the build-up away. I know they are trying something different, but the build-up/level up of your team is much more rewarding
But you still have to "level up" and play with lesser cards to unlock the better ones. Its not like we're getting full 99 squads just for logging into the game. We have to grind with those TA henchmen to get to the captain cards and the charisma series. Even the team rewards for completing the LS are low diamonds.
Since Friday, ive finished the WBC program and all the TA conquests....my team overall is still a 92. I get it...there are people that drop real cash on the game to buy every card imaginable...and those are the people that will be gone by season 2 while most of us are happy with our 92-93 team and ready to grind for more.
My point is: why are you bothering grinding with henchmen for 92 overall captain cards when you got a full team of 90s, 95s and 97s for playing a few hours of the WBC program? You don’t think there will be another program like that in a week or two with 95s, 97s and 99s? I understand what you’re saying, but personally I think it’s too easy. The way I enjoy the game is putting in the work and getting rewarded with something that genuinely improves my team.
-
They’re the best cards in the game currently. Better or comparable cards will come with the upcoming seasons and you’ll grind for those. Could go two ways really , people could get tired of having to grind new cards and walk away , but you say it’s easy so maybe they won’t and it’ll extend the life cycle

Did you play the version of the game with immortals? The show 18, I think. Where you had buy 12 million hats and jerseys to advance the program?
Not all changes are well thought out...

We understand this. I’m not suggesting there won’t be better cards. Just that the room for growth is minimal with this current model. Which makes things less interesting.
And as another topic, the fact that you can have two 99s but one has 99 hitting and the other has 125 hitting is dumb.

You get more pxp playing online so you don’t have to mindlessly grind vs. Cpu games if you don’t want to. Half these cards will be useless after July except the live series rewards and I imagine chipper will be in a lot of wildcard spots. Real casuals don’t want to grind 60 moments a month for a single 95-99. I am bit more hardcore and I don’t even want to do that so giving people 99’s so they can compete with goons online isn’t the worst idea, unfortunately though the way they rate players attributes will continue to hinder gameplay.

Speaking from my own experience in the past few years; once I have a card with 120+ hitting stats I don't really care if they release another one. Or 10. I'll use 3B as an example. I used Finest Machado once it got released and there were many comparable 3B out there, buy I never even tried PS Alex Bregman for example. Simply because they are basically identical.
Now the thing here is that these cards were released late in the cycle. But now this issue exists early on. What made it so great to wait and grind for those 99 cards is that you had to use the lower cards for a good while, and then the jump to those really good cards was quite significant. Now that saturated feeling from the late game cycle where everyone and their momma has a 99 with insane attributes is already present at launch. I can definitely see OPs point.

Those 92 overall captains are required for the Set 1 collection (99 Babe Ruth, 99 Chipper and 99 Pedro). For most of the people that play this game, its about the big picture....not just putting together a "good enough" team day 1 and never changing it.

The new cards in season 3 etc -
Weekly Wonder was a breeze... did the Moments and then played one 9 inning CPU game... got the win and the hits which was enough to complete the program... then won my first two Mini-Seasons games on Lefty Loosey... I think that's the Mini-Season that I went into... I wonder how long/short this program will be each week as this first one you only needed to get 7 of the 8 available program stars to complete.
