Hitting needs a major tune up

This “new” hitting engine simply isn’t very fun or rewarding (even on rookie mini seasons). It seems like unless you are perfect (and even then perfect lineouts and fly outs are very prevalent) the ball just dies on anything but dead center pci. It seems as though SDs widened the range for perfects, but shrunk every other timing window considerably along with a way to precise pci requirement. While I can see these changes for HoF and legend, it seems absurd to apply them to all-star and below when taking into account (by their own data), the average player only hit .220 on all star last year.
I don’t mind the reduction in foul balls or limited hits on bad swings (very early/very late), but getting absolutely no exit velo on balls solidly within inner pci seems like a bit too much.
Perhaps I am wrong, but I am guessing SDS data will quickly confirm that averages are way down this year when compared to last and will hopefully rely on the data to tune up hitting instead of relying on the opinions of a few content creators.

Actually hitting is easier in my opinion. The only frustrating part is the ball doesn’t fly as much compared to previous games including Coors field. More doubles and singles. I think there is way too many perfect perfect routine fly balls though

There is no way they could make these changes for HOF and legend and not the rest of the game. It's all or nothing. And I personally feel it's for the good. While I don't think "get gud" is a valid argument at all, this is the best hitting has felt in 6 years. I don't think a thing needs to be changed

SDS….please disregard this post. This is the best hitting has been in the game. Please do not adjust anything.

All I said was go by the data and not listen to anecdotes (especially from top 1% players like yourself). If I am wrong and the average player is doing better than last year, fine, but if the data shows thenaverage/median player is struggling more, tune it up.

No way am I a top 1% player. I’m actually not very good. With that being said, hitting feels rewarding. This is the only time where I feel power isn’t the meta. It’s refreshing to be able to confidently put contact hitters in my lineup and have some fun.

Previous versions of the game were far too HR heavy. The results of changes should lead to hit ratios more similar to reality.

I disagree, been playing DD since 2020 and hiting feels better than any year I played.

Only 1% of the DD player base makes World Series, therefore you are in fact a top 1% player.

I haven’t made World Series in this years game.

Players like Gwynn and Lofton are going to be a problem this year and fun to use.

Agree that contact hitters being better is good. Doesn’t address my complaint about rewarding good (but not perfect) pci input.
Also, pretty sure Lofton isn’t in the game this year.

Well you shouldn’t always be rewarded for good and perfect contact. In reality you can square up the ball perfectly and still hit directly at someone. That’s just how it goes. You win some, you lose some. Kind of like if a boxer connects perfectly with an uppercut doesn’t always mean it’s going to be a knockout.

If you made WS already in this game you would be in the .01% of DD players

This is absolutely the most enjoyable version of this game that I have played. I have yet to have an outcome that I did not think was the way it should be....that is hitting, pitching and defense. Every single aspect is better. It is no longer just K, homerun or unrealistic defensive play. My brain has shifted to "Wow, I can put Boggs or Gwynn in my lineup", which is awesome! I think this is also going to translate to a wider variety of pitchers being usable as well.
My biggest concern is that they patch something because of posts like this. I am an average player and truthfully I am losing more than normal, but the mistakes I make are evident and for the first time ever I feel like I know how to improve and get better. I truly think the game this year is "functioning as intended" and I am so happy that it is.

Is this your experience in RS games? Because the gameplay vs CPU is considerably different than H2H modes. It seems that SDS likes to constantly tweak the Sliders in Moments, Showdown, Conquest, etc... in order to make the vs CPU grind more challenging (or irritating).

I also generally disagree with this. I feel like I'm getting more hits on 80-95 mph exit velocities than I did in previous games. Previous games the defense always seemed to be able to get to everything. Hence why previous games were all about power, and this year contact hitters can be much more valuable.
-
I'm definitely not hitting as many homeruns as in previous years, but I have been finding A LOT more outfield grass. Hits that would have been lineouts or flyouts in previous years are now singles, doubles, and on rare occasions triples. While my slugging has gone down, I would say my average is right on par with other years. Most of my runs are now manufactured instead of bomb after bomb. I'm digging it.

This is the biggest cap I've seen on the internet today
