Ohtani Rule in 23 RTTS?
-
After 1 game, agent: —> How are you feeling about this idea of going forward as a 2-way player?
- I love it.
- I might like it but I'd like to discuss my exact roles. Like how often I will be doing each.
- I don't like it. I'd prefer to focus on position play and hitting only.
- I don't like it. I'd prefer to focus on pitching only.
Only two options = 1 or 2. Going with 2.

Agent: —> What type of balance of play would you prefer?
- I want to pitch in the starting rotation, and then hit and field between appearances on the hill.
- I'd like to focus mostly on hitting and position play but also pitch occasionally.
- I see myself as a closer who also does some hitting and fielding.
- On second thought, I think I just want to focus on hitting and position play.
- I think I actually prefer to be a pitcher only.

No way this results in a true two-way player in RTTS. I proceeded to Sim the season, no SP/DH options throughout.

Yea I’m in year 2 and I’m fairly certain the option is never coming.
Frustrating because you can clearly see ohtani is getting to do it in RTTS. Is there an option to create guy copying a current player? If so maybe you could choose ohtani and then change all his appearance and stuff to what you want
-
Nope you still can’t hit and pitch in the same game which is RIDICULOUS! We’ve had Two-way players in RTTS for 3-4 years now and they still don’t have it right. The rule changes were the only reason I got this game. Looks like I’ll be doing player-lock franchise AGAIN!
-
I can almost live with it for regular season but it sucks taking your guys bat out of lineup in playoffs.
-
It shouldn’t that hard to get this right. I don’t even care if I don’t play the field at all. I’d rather DH every game and pitch, the same way they use Ohtani.
-
Yea I feel same, that’s why I wasn’t sure if maybe you could copy ohtani as your rtts guy to make your guy a dh and then just change his appearance and stuff after the fact. But based off your post I’m assuming that’s a no.

The problem is that the AI managers don’t really make any decisions involving your player the same way they make decisions involving the AI players on your team. Everything seems pre-set,no matter what you play the field for 2 games, Dh 1, Pitch 1, Dh 1, and repeat, that cycle never changes. In old RTTs you actually sat out games when you were tired, you batted in different spots in the lineup, you had secondary positions that you could potentially be slotted into.
-
So even if you could use Ohtani in RTTS he has OF as his secondary position so it would still end up working the same way, Field for 2 game, Dh, Pitch, Dh.
-
I do miss the variety from older versions. If you struggled you dropped in lineup. Also miss being able to interact with manager whenever you wanted and not just when they decide talk to you.
-
Also frustrating when you hit over .700 in the ALDS and then get removed from the playoff roster in RTTS. That and the lack of hitting when you are pitching for your team is stupid. This is suppose to be a RPG. Kinda sucks the life out of pretending to be an all time great if the one mode that sells greatness lacks it!!!

More evidence that they didn't use any of the new game and AI logic in RTTS.
