Cards too good?

Is it me or is the WBC program too cracked? Is there any incentive to get any cards lower than a 97? Feels like doing TA and stuff that gives me 92s is a waste of time. Also doesn’t seem like having a captain is worth it if all the cards are 5 ovr lower than the guys you can get from the program.
Think of it as leasing a car…You have fun & flashy cards you get to lease for a couple months and then when the lease is up in July, You’ll get fresh new cards to play with.
I personally think the devs deserve praise for thinking outside the box and coming up with this new way of keeping the game fresh all year long.

Depends how you look at it. How fresh will it feel when every card that drops will be = or < than the cards you have now? There’s no progression which is what a lot of people like about these modes. Sure you get different players but there will be little to no improvement for the rest of the year.
Also, let’s say your two favorite players are Charlie Blackmon and Chipper Jones. Now you have to pick between the 2 because they’re both Set 1 and you can only have 1 wildcard. You think a better Blackmon comes out? Highly doubt it. Better Chipper? Doubt it.
So either use lesser cards of the same player or don’t use them at all.
It’s not a bad system for people who just want to use the best of the best all year, but a lot of people like using specific players. Now we don’t have the option to use everyone we want at the same time.

I don't look at a 97 and a 92 overall and think i have to use that 97. Yeah maybe if it's the same player. But there are plenty of situations in which I would use a lower rated card. Just because it is better.

I guess I fall into the category of liking to play with elite cards year round. Time will tell on the quality of cards going forward but this seems well planned & thought out by SDS. I would be surprised if there are not equal or better options in future seasons.

I’ve been away on vacation and haven’t had a chance to play the game. So I watched twitch to see how it looked and played. Stopped watching cause it was burning watching every streamer rock a 99 team of WBC cards day 1 haha
Yeah, I guess we have to see what they do moving forward. All the different swings and names are pretty fun to use to be honest. I actually like using golds and silvers online to start the year but this is cool too. Something different.

You know what's awesome, having 9 AS cards with Harper, a couple of righties who smash lefties but not so good vs R,but now thanks to the Harper tier 3 they now also smash right as well, like gold nelson cruz

That’s a good point

Yes. Collections.
But what’s the incentive to do collections if the guys you get for them are the same ovr as the guys you can get for doing the WBC program for 2 hours?
I dont know what your incentive would be. Personally, im a completionist and i like to have options at every position.
If you really think you can play this game for long and just use the same lineup as you have right now, more power to you.
Idk, personally I find it more fun to get your team set early and use it all year and get really familiar with the cards, and find the cards you’re really good with and use them as much as you can.

Do you play Ranked? If so; you're incentive is that once Season/Set 3 drops, these cards won't be usable for Ranked.
Yeah a ton of ranked. That’s a good point in theory but by then I’m sure it will be a piece of cake to get 99s for nothing.

Season 3 is also 4 months away. What are we supposed to work toward between now and then. Personally, I really dislike what they’ve done with the game. I don’t feel like there is any reason to grind for cards when you get 97s for doing barely anything. The diehards will stick around, but I suspect most people will get board and quick long before July.

Not everyone must have a reward to chase to enjoy a baseball video game. Maybe if you enjoy playing the game itself and not always worried about a reward, you may enjoy the game!
-
It’s a reward-based mode. Everything you do in DD is reward motivated. Anyone can play casual mode anytime they want. No offence but that’s a ridiculous comment.

Well, you are very narrow-minded about this game and its new features. You obviously do not want to adjust your style of play of the game and are set in your ways which narrows your ability to see anything positive about how this game will be played this year.
-
The concept they’ve come up with is that you will get all the best players available to you right away. And then in four months, you won’t be able to use those guys anymore, and you’ll have to do the same stuff over again for new guys. If you think that’s a great strategy for the game, I’m happy for your openmindedness.
