Was wondering why in rtts it shows lineups with a dh and with no dh. Thought it was universal now

Also wondering if this is affecting my 2way player not being able to hit and pitch in the same game

I didn’t even notice that. I’m sure that’s why our two way guys can’t be used like Ohtani. Pretty frustrating bc this rule was released right after last years game came out, they had a whole year to get it right this year.

That’s a pretty huge oversight to miss. I’m pretty disappointed in this game all around bc of the obvious things being missed (companion app for IOS, ohtani rule for RTTS, etc).

Also just wondering are you having issues with your team only scoring in usually one inning if your pitching. I use sim ahead just wondering if that causes it.

As to your post I agree. But its the way the business is now sports game start to shift to focusing only on the online stuff. They all did it madden fifa nba 2k. This game use to be the standard for a sports game career mode but sadly its going with the trend

But I will say some have started to shift back to there career modes. 2k23 was a good one I read madden 24 is focusing on thier offline stuff this year. So maybe in another 2 to 3 years they'll make rtts a priority again. That seems to be the average time to me

Honestly haven’t paid that close to team runs since still in minors. I have noticed several times I will get pitcher to throw a pitch and it be strike and then they intentionally walk me up 0-1 in count.

I’m really hoping they are able to add the ohtani rule for pitchers to rtts with update. If not I’m gonna be bitter pretty much the next year over this game.

I have my reservations about them patching it since they didn't patch it in last year. I'm not very savvy at computer stuff but my money is on it has something to do with the ai manager. Because I noticed people saying if you want ohtanhi to hit and pitch you have to make him the dh. Just my thought.

Itd lose some immersion but the quickest fix to me would be to let us adjust the lineups in rtts.

Yea I was even thinking if they gave us option to make our guy a DH instead of defensive position I would like that more. I hate losing at bats for 33 games a year.

Honestly if they wouldn’t have overlooked this issue with RTTS, I’d be very happy overall outside companion app still not updated. Missing this update though really irritates [censored] out of me. It really almost ruins whole thing for me personally.

Just wondering what situation in the game would there not be a dh allowed

If a team were to start a game with the DH but elect to move that player in the DH to a field position later in the game, that team would then forfeit the DH and any pitchers in the lineup would need to bat or be pinch hit for. In addition if the DH is moved to pitcher, then that pitcher and any other pitcher used must bat or be pinch hit for.

This happened to me a day or two ago. In a March to October or Franchise game I screwed up and pinch hit or ran for my catcher. The player who pinch hit was not a catcher, and the only other catcher on my team was the current DH. I moved him to Catcher and forfeit the DH spot.

Thing with this, the submitted lineup had the DH, and it was lost "in game" due to "managerial choices".

Unless someone makes a "custom" league with no DH rule in it (which, IIRC, RTTS doesn't support) then there should no longer be a situation in which a lineup without a DH should ever be submitted pre-game, whether or not the DH position can be lost during the game due to "managerial decisions"

Universal in MLB, yes. Minors, not so much.

If understand you correctly, and speaking more in terms of real baseball, but also in The show (as they typically try to mirror the actual rules as much as possible) are you thinking the the DH being universal means it's mandatory? Because that's not true. If you didn't know the DH has never been mandatory.

Rule 5.11 a3: It is not mandatory that a Club designate a hitter for the pitcher, but failure to do so prior to the game precludes the use of a Designated Hitter for that Club for that game.

The rule is from the 2022 MLB rulebook, and in my research I couldn't find anything that now makes the DH mandatory.

So I guess my question now would be how would it be possible to have a no dh lineup pre game when as it was said it requires people to be moved around to forfeit the dh spot. If that makes sense. Also if it was built into to the rtts to forfeit the dh wouldn't that make my pitcher the hitter anyway. I know the easy answer is the ohtani rule just wasn't implemented into rtts just dont see the reason why not. I just have a hard time believing during QA testing not a single.person went into the lineup menu amd didnt scroll over to see that there was still a no dh lineup

My only "defense" to this would be the infamous There's mandatory, then there's "mandatory".

The second one is the lovely "yes, there's an option, but because taking said option is going to be detrimental, you're "never" expected to take it.

Besides Ohtani related cases, how many times has an AL team "willingly" forgone the DH ('had to' back int the days when the NL didn't have DHs and played in NL parks) since they got the DH? The answer to this (takes deep research and is pretty much zero if my guess/hunch is right) helps "reinforce" the "illusionary mandatory"-ness of the DH being "necessary"

Oh yeah, I'd say its still a competitive disadvantage if one team elects to not use the DH now at the start of the game (I guess unless Ohtani is starting on the mound). I don't know if the crew chief would encourage a team to use a DH player per the commissioner, but he might double check to make sure the manager wanted to play without the DH.

Just was trying to clarify why the no DH option was still in the show 23 lineups. In my game, it was offline DD but I just wasn't paying attention and had to forfeit the dh position - didn't really want to.
