Waiting for 23 to come out I have gone all in with BR lately. Just curious on how people approach it.
Put emphasis on line up and use mediocre pitching seems to be the common theme I see. Some mux up the diamonds others put them in the top 4. Rarely see anything too different.
Anyone go at it a different way and have success? Maybe focus on pitching and defense?
-
Relief pitching, relief pitching, relief pitching. Silver and bronze pitchers in bullpen are better than most anything you can find at the starter end. They throw junk and mixed with hard stuff with other pitchers. Plus you can pitch them every other game compared to starters who can only pitch every 3rd or 4th game at best.

Are you in it for the wins or the points? In other words, do you want the banners or just the cards? If the latter, complete the missions and go for the points. In that case, wins don't matter. They help, but not a lot. So, draft the cards that help you complete the missions.

Read the first sentence. And absolutely follow it. Relief pitchers stamina comes back after 1 game. Take all 3 of your diamonds in the lineup and most or all of your golds as well.
Find pitchers with funky deliveries (Justin Lawrence Rockies is a good example).
Follow the missions- you don’t have to go 12-0. I’ve never gone close. Just finish the missions and win now and then.
Don’t be afraid to redraft. BR rewards are amazing and you get paid back many times over. In the month that Trout was released as the main reward, BR was worth close to 2.5 million stubs if you got to 100 points.

Thanks for the replies. Definitely will help.

Look for SS/2B/C for your high diamonds. It's easy to find good silver options at the corner infield/outfield, but finding great bats at the middle infield and catcher position is a bit harder.
Think about how you are going to fill your batting line up while drafting. Use lefty platoon hitters to your advantage by sandwiching them in between two lefty killers or vice versa. Looking for switch hitters is always smart, but attributes are more important than just the ability to switch hit.
Pitching is overrated. Don't waste your diamonds or golds unless the position players offered in these rounds are horrible. Look for pitch mix > attributes. In BR people are gonna hit the ball and score runs regardless. You wanna look for guys who have moving pitches like sinkers/cutters/2seamers/circle changeups/slurves and so on. It also helps to know pitcher's deliveries. Sidearmers are still very effective and can make up for poor attributes or lack of moving pitches.
And most importantly, if you wanna make a deep run.. be smart about your bullpen and who you start each game. It's a plus if you're a good hitter and you can make guys quit early, because your bullpen will be rested most of the time.
Edit:
Almost forgot to mention that creating a batting lineup in BR is not the same as in RS. You don't want your best hitter to hit 3rd or cleanup, you want him leadoff or 2nd. Because it's only 3 innings, if you're struggling to hit in a game your 3 hole hitter or cleanup hitter might not come up to bat twice. You don't want that. So put them leadoff or 2nd. -
Thanks man great post.

Yes diamonds go in your line up not into pitching. Also the 2 common players I try to get a speed guy and a catcher. This way in the 2nd inning if my catcher gets on, I can put the speed guy in for him and the common C in on defense. Small thing. But you’d be surprised how many times that worked for me. I finally got to 10-0 a few weeks ago, I get the community is down but it was fun.

Diamonds, Gold and Silver hitters. Bronze pitchers. Try to find guys you just play well with. Sometimes you find a silver you just rake with. 2 common players put on the bench.
-
This year, with 2 way player eligibility... Ohtani might be worth taking for Diamond as a SP.
Just parroting what others said --- other diamonds on hitters. Make sure to grab at least 2 lefties for the pen. Even guys like a silver/bronze Chapman are effective in BR.
Budget SPs with good pitch mixes, Cutters/sinkers/sliders and high velo work great. Funky delivery a plus from RPs/SPs.Lineup wise, its usually about power first, everything else second. Also consider swing animations and your personal success with certain players.
Personally, a little disappointed Captain feature doesn't work in BR in '23. It would have made some late common/bronze picks more useful and made for some interesting BR teams.

This morning I discovered that this BR program goes past 150 points but doesn't show it visually. I drafted a team for fun and past 150 points I got a 3 gold player choice pack and a 1 diamond player choice pack.

I've received random Gold and Silver Choice packs throughout the program. Even before hitting the respective points needed to unlock them. But I never went past 100pts.
I assume you mean the ones in the reward path; not LS players?
-
Battle Royal strategy is pick a team and see which team commits the most bizarre errors/passed balls/funky plays to lose.
-
Yes the reward cards. Not regular LS cards.

You should take the same approach to punctuation and spelling.
