Yeah Spot-Bilt did make some back in that day, but Rawlings also had the "Fleetfoot" shoe and Riddell was commissioned by the A's to supply their white shoes. To me the brand wouldn't matter for The Show, just the ability to make it look like those shoes-simple design with no extra frills and the extended tongue covering the lace knot.

@rsbarrett00_PSN said in The Show 23 Traditional Aesthetic Ideas:

For those of us who are traditionalists in baseball and like to recreate older eras in the game, these ideas would help us out a lot:

    1. I noticed that some of the legends on the game have period-appropriate bats at the time that they played (Roberto Clemente and Hank Aaron come to mind, and they both have older Hillerich and Bradsby Louisville Slugger bats). I would love for that style of bat to be available for all players as another bat option for customizing and editing players (Visual attached of what the bat and engravings would look like).

    2. The game doesn't currently have this, but I wouldn't mind seeing fielding gloves and mitts that resemble older ones as well (Clemente and Aaron era Rawlings Heart of the Hide and Wilson A2000, even Spalding, gloves and mitts would be great), that would also be applicable to custom players, RTTS, and editing players.

    3. Just like above, I would be interested in catchers gear with simpler designs and straps (Johnny Bench era gear would work great), particularly the chest protectors and leg guards as the traditional mask the video game currently has is fine, though I would like to see a basic style helmet worn with it, as opposed to the ventilated helmet that is currently worn with the traditional mask.

    4. A plain pair of spikes with no body designs and the oversized tongue that flips over the laces would be awesome (Once again, Clemente, Aaron, and Bench early in his career can serve as reliable sources for styles to go off of).

As for team uniforms, some additions and tweak suggestions for several teams:
-Baltimore Orioles: On the Home and Road '66 uniforms, add the top black and white stripe on top of the socks so the pattern from top to bottom is black/white/black/white/orange. Right now it's just black/white/orange (Similar to Red Sox' '40 and '75 uniform socks).
-Cleveland Indians: Add 1965 uniforms (Visual attached)
-Minnesota Twins: Possibly add TC logo on side of stirrup socks.
-Los Angeles Angels: On the Home and /road '61 uniforms, split the stirrup sock in half with the blue on top and red on the bottom where the stirrup cut is, as that is a design the team wore around that time.
-Oakland A's: Make belt on Home '70 uniform green, and add 1968 road uniform (Visual attached)
-Washington Nationals: Add 1969 Montreal Expos uniforms (Visual attached)
-Philadelphia Phillies: Add 1964 uniforms, possibly w/ blue Liberty Bell logo on side of stirrup socks (Visual attached)
-Chicago Cubs: Add 1970 uniforms (Visual attached)
-Cincinnati Reds: Add 1968 uniforms (Visual attached)
-Los Angeles Dodgers: Add 1963 uniforms (Almost the same as the Home '71 and Road, but w/o name on back or piping, visual attached)
-San Diego Padres: Add 1969 uniforms (Visual attached, but with 3 yellow stripes on the socks)
-Milwaukee Brewers: Add 1969 Seattle Pilots uniforms (Visual attached)
-Houston Astros: Add 1971 uniforms (Same as Home and Road '70 uniforms, but with colors reversed so anything navy would be orange, and anything orange would be navy, not forgetting the star on the side of the stirrup socks, which in this case, the star would be navy and the stirrups orange, visual attached)

In addition to adding those uniforms, I think a very novel and useful idea that lots of users would appreciate would be the ability to use team uniforms that are already on the game in different modes, such as Diamond Dynasty and Franchise, so that in case someone wants to use a specific design, they don't have to try to make it from scratch (Example: I like to have a franchise where I switch the Astros and Brewers and put the former in the National League and the latter in the American League, but since that's the opposite of the league's those teams are actually in, I have to make those uniforms myself, and of course they don't turn out as well. Being able to load an existing uniform set, or even mix-and-match existing home and road uniforms, onto the franchise would be a huge help, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would feel that way).

Since many people don't have the means to buy a PS5 in order to access Stadium Creator, I think adding these ballparks would also be awesome:
    Memorial Stadium in Baltimore
Original Yankee Stadium in New York (Before the current old one currently on the game)
    Comiskey Park in Chicago
    Lakefront Stadium in Cleveland
    Tiger Stadium in Detroit (1968)
    Municipal Stadium in Kansas City
    Metropolitan Stadium in Minneapolis
    County Stadium in Milwaukee
    Anaheim Stadium in Anaheim (1966)
Pre-Mount Davis Oakland Coliseum in Oakland (1968)
    Sicks Stadium in Seattle
Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta (1966)
    Jarry Park in Montreal
    Astrodome in Houston (1965)
Expanded Forbes Field w/ further right field grandstand and scoreboard in left field (1960)
Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego
Candlestick Park in San Francisco (1960)

Lastly, for umpires, the likely reason The Show doesn't use the real umpires' names is because they don't have permission from the umpires' union (Which is fine), but I do think it would be nice to pick out their apparel too, whether it be black shirt, blue shirt, black weather jacket, black suit jacket (Typically only the plate umpire wears this, but I think having it available for the base umpires would help with creating throwback games), and even black pants. Maybe an outside chest protector option for the plate umpire could be added as well to further the authenticity of those "Turn Back the Clock" games, which I think many players, including myself, could and would definitely appreciate, along with everything else I've addressed.

Well I know I covered several things here, but I sincerely hope that these ideas will be implemented in MLB The Show 23, as I really think they would further improve an already great video game, especially in regards to creating throwback games and atmospheres.

I get Sicks Stadium for the Pilots, but I would add the Kingdome for the Mariners, and instead of Jarry Park, I would add Olympic Stadium

I could live with Olympic Stadium. I'm just a guy who likes the 60's and the Expos played their lone season in the 60's at Jarry Park (Or is it "Parc?"), so that's why I said that.

Do the game creators ever look at these posts? I sure hope so, because I didn't buy this year's game because it doesn't have these features I want. No sense spending $70 for the same game without anything new that I want, but with a different guy on the cover. I really hope they'll see my initial post and act on them.

^^^As well as the above idea, the ability to not only transfer existing uniforms to another team, but also to change the colors of those existing uniforms would be great as well. I know you probably can't allow for shifting graphics on the uniforms, but I think being able to change colors isn't unreasonable.

For franchise, an option to either expand or contract to have more or less teams in your franchise, and then picking how many teams would qualify for the postseason would be great as well.

If someone wants to load a historic team that no longer exists (Already complete with logos, team identity, uniforms, and ballpark), there should also be an option when starting the franchise underneath "Load an Existing Team" called "Load a Historic team," where you would fine some renditions of each Washington Senators franchise (I'd personally love to see 1968, but use Griffith Park instead of RFK Stadium), St. Louis Browns, Houston Colt 45s, Boston and Milwaukee Braves, Seattle Pilots, Montreal Expos (I'd like to see 1970), and more. Of course it would be fantastic to see era-appropriate rosters for each season as well, but I understand that that would be way too much to ask for.

So, all of the ideas that I've proposed in this topic, as well as someone to create the 1969 roster again (Or at least an all-time greats 1960's roster), and I'll definitely buy that game as soon as it's available!
