Am I the only one who doesn't care one but who'll be on the cover? I'd prefer them to save the resources and hire some quality devs instead to code an enjoyable game. That being said, if I'd have to bet money I'd say it's Julio.
I highly doubt the cover costs them any significant amount of resources where it effects other parts of the game....
Probably true. Stil prefer them to put the focus on the things that matter, which is most definitely gameplay.
No one who does the cover would have anything to do with gameplay, shout out to the art department bc they'd be the ones doing the cover.
Nitpicking in the morning... are you that guy at work who says "sorry, that's not my department", while you kick you legs up?
The executives have a strategy and a plan for this franchise as a whole, it's not just a band of "art department" employees and a different band of coders, believe it or not.Nope, I work just about every department in my store, I'm not nitpicking, you have every right to gripe about the state of the game, but griping just to gripe (which is what we have here), is silly.
And just to show you why I say that, griping just to gripe is taking every opportunity, even stupid ones like a cover athlete that has no effect on the gameplay, and turning it into your crusade.
I'm sorry, but what's the difference between me griping about the current state of this franchise and you griping about my griping? At least mine serves some sort of purpose, which is that I deeply DEEPLY wish for an improved game that will benefit all of us as a community.
Your griping on the other hand serves no purpose other than the attempt to antagonize me. Please correct me if I'm wrong. You are correct, my griping about your griping doesn't accomplish anything, I'll admit that. But if you think this griping in this specific thread is going to change anything or serve any purpose, it won't. So in the end, both of our griping accomplishes nothing.
I don't know why you are so salty though, I have nothing against you at all, just pointing out why not point out stuff that actually matters instead of saying "Let's focus resources on gameplay not cover, when the two have nothing to do with each other. You are better then that, you've wrote some very good critiques of the game.
I am not salty at all. I am simply advocating for a better game by all means neccesary, which is what I've been trying to do around here since 2018. And you may think my efforts have no effect whatsoever, if you look at it from the perspective that whomever at SDS is not reading this or using this forum as a valid platform of feedback. In that case you'd be correct.
But there's a group way more important than SDS employees and/or executives and those are the ones I've been trying to reach since 2018. And that group is us, you and me and everyone else on this forum. And just like how you like to help other departments at your workplace as a hard worker and a respected coworker, I like to share/implement my knowledge and craft about marketing, communications and consumer behavior from a psychological point of view as well. And this whole idea of a cover athlete is to create a buzz, distract from the actual thing that matters which is and will always be gameplay. That might sound very straight forward and I'm sure everyone understands this because it's not rocket science at all, but you'd be surprised how many people get lost in the marketing machine along the way where they completely forget (or worse, subconsciously neglect) the actual quality of the game. I see myself as someone who consistently pulls people out of that buzz and confront them with reality and that's what I've been doing since 2018 and what I'll continue to do until we have an actual high quality game.
I agree with everything you wrote there, it is a big distraction meant to excite people. However, I just don't see how writing it up there in your original way gives any meaningful reach to the people you are trying to get to.
It's like if I came to the forums and said Wow I get 80% outs on perfects! Obviously not true makes me look a bit uninformed, you obviously know the cover resources are not taking away from gameplay, it's a distraction absolutely, but it's not something where they can redirect those resources elsewhere and suddenly make a better game. So in my eyes, it lessens the argument made. Maybe that is just a me thing, I might be in the minority who feels that when I read arguments presented in that manner, but that's just what I see from my perspective
If you said originally that it was a big distraction instead of saying redirect resources elsewhere, I think it would have been a much better way of using this specific topicSometimes you have to formulate in short and with a little bit of hyperbole, because not everyone has the attention span, patience or (let's just be blunt and say it) intellect to read the whole, more nuanced reasoning as I just wrote it down. Getting the message across is what matters, and on an online forum like this you don't get to make an analysis on what form of communication would work best based on the frequent readers of this forum, because I don't know a thing about anyone here. So you choose a way that everyone will understand and hopefully the people who have been here long enough, and have seen me post for years, can pick up on the underlying well intended motives, that are certainly there I assure you of that.
You consider writing, "The cover means nothing and just lipstick on a ugly pig" type of sentence nuanced?
It gets the message across
It does, that's my point. I think much better then redirect resources elsewhere

I think it would be really cool if guys like MJ, Deion and Bo Jackson were implemented in the game. Sure, MJ would probably be a common or bronze but hear me out.. They should steal one idea from Madden that is actually good, which is Golden Tickets. Imagine how fun it would be to have a 99 OVR 125 everything Golden Ticket MJ on the team.
Edit: I know it won't happen, the rights to these guys are too expensive.

I think my head would explode if Jordan got a DD card.
Deion and Bo definitely deserve some cards.

Attention Walmart Shoppers......Really???
You jest, but Walmart pays extremely good bonuses for managers and makes for a decent career.
I will remember to say Hi to you at the door if I ever stop in Missouri.
One more say on this. I've met some of the most amazing people with this job, you may thumb your nose and look down on them, but we have some hard-working friendly people that I count myself lucky to be able to know them.

Not saying the people who work there aren't hard workers. Heck its so hard to hire good people nowadays. I hold out hiring until I get the right person. I don't hire warm bodies. I don't go to Walmart unless I absolutely have to. Too many weirdos at the one's down here. Thus all the videos "The People of Walmart" Now Sam's Club is different and don't know why.

Nobody should ever look down on a person making an honest living, no matter what they do. Where I'm from, people would always tell us to go to school and learn a profession, because you don't want to end up collecting garbage. But without people who collect our garbage, our society falls apart real quick. Without people in supermarkets who put food on the shelves, we will starve real quick. There's nothing more honorable than making an honest living and providing for your family by any means neccesary, regardless of what it is you do. We weren't all born to be presidents or CEO's.
Edit: I'm sure this wasn't @TEXAS10PT_PSN intention either.

Whoever it is, they are on this list:

The cover player wears/wore 23.
Don Mattingly
Ryne Sanberg
Zack GreinkeUnless...the 23 means the game edition...sigh.

Julio Rodriguez feels who they should choose (or Pete Alonso - homer pick)... but they have already chosen and we'll have to wait until Monday (unless it ends up leaking which I have a feeling it will... just gonna have to verify sources to know for sure)... gotta see what MLB players have been in San Diego lately.

Fidel Castro? He was a very good player and Socialism is all the rage these days.
