Darn Finest showdown

Well, after sitting on it for about a week I finally decided to do the third challenge in the finest showdown so I could get closer to the Gary Carter card. I got down to two outs and Byron Buxton at the plate. He hit one deep into right field and I was sure it was out. It wasn’t. I ended up losing. That’s why I hate those showdowns. And that one was supposed to be easy. They really need to take the 500 stub cost out of those things. Or give another way to get through that program.

I've returned to working on this program after taking a break from it. I've done all of the moments, all of the Finest missions (except for Gagne and Delgado, I don't have those cards yet), and I have 6 points left to get on the 2022 Finest missions (6 more doubles and 55 PXP for Swanson - easy).
I'm sitting at 72 points right now and I calculate that will give me 78 - two points shy of Gagne.
Am I doing something wrong, or do I have to do the Showdown to get Gagne and Delgado and finish the program? I knew I'd have to do the Showdown, but I was hoping to save it for last.

Were you able to complete this, @beatlesnews? I, too, am struggling mightily with this dang Showdown. Ugh… I barely can get past Phillips and Dontrelle has shut me down 9 times straight. I despise having to do this to advance the program cuz I’m officially stuck. Anyone have any feasible tips..? I’m #NMS4Lyfe, but I’d pay someone $5 to get this dang Showdown done for me. Clang clang!

I’m horrible at showdowns and don’t like them. The way I got it done was by picking players I knew I could hit with.
It doesn't matter if they're out of position because you never field.
Put your strongest hitters at the top of your lineup.
Try and get a fast player on your bench to put in for slow runners on base when you start.
Be patient at the plate. -

Well, this one is STILL giving me fits! Made it to Maddux the other day - then blew it. I gave up. But I'll try again later today. Still stuck at 78 points...
Just curious - Since Showdowns are essentially "Moments" based, do many of y'all hold up on Directional hitting, like for normal Moments when trying to hit dingers..? That def works for me on normal Moments, but I haven't tried that yet for this Showdown...

Just curious - Since Showdowns are essentially "Moments" based, do many of y'all hold up on Directional hitting, like for normal Moments when trying to hit dingers..? That def works for me on normal Moments, but I haven't tried that yet for this Showdown...
I stick with zone. I don't recall this showdown being that difficult. What is the starting scenario with Maddux? Runners on and number of outs?

I just really suck at Showdowns that bad.
I remember there was one earlier in the year that you had to do for a program and I do remember that one being pretty easy cuz I was like "Wow! I actually finished that in the first run!" But I can't remember which one it was...
This Finest one - Ugh! If I remember correctly, with Maddux, you start out 0-0 and no runners on base. I was trying to hit dingers but he killed me with that darn Sinker! I may have gotten one guy on base at one point, but it was erased by a double play.
Sigh... Can SDS lower the difficulty for me..?

"Negative Rookie..?" Haha! I am guessing you are an old man like me (45) and it is a result of diminishing reflexes. My best suggestion is to pick perks that play to your strength and to load up on guys that will hit Maddux. If you have a problem with swinging early in the count then commit to not swinging until you have two strikes. Put the controller down until then. It really isn't that hard if you go into it with a plan. I struggle when I am in a hurry.

Wheeler gave me trouble, I was down to my last out. Gagne would have been bad if I had skipped to the final showdown, but you start 20-20 and only need 1 more run if you play them all.

FINALLY!!
Finished! Using up on Directional hitting worked! Picked solid players and better perks and now it’s done!
On to the next…

No, not yet. Latest try I got past Evan Phillips but not Dontrelle Willis.

Well, I tried multiple times and so far no luck. I mean this is ridiculous. SDS, please give us a Christmas present and add a conquest or do something so we can get these cards.
