Will SDS ever fix baserunning?
-
I have runners on first and second, no outs. The batter hits an easy foul pop behind the plate and the base runners freeze off the bag.
The AI knows to throw to second and then to first for a triple play. I should have manually retreated the runners but didn't.
Is it fair to say that if SDS can program AI logic to make the defensive play with runners off base there should also be simple AI logic that returns players to the bag on foul balls?
Base running has always been the achilles heel of this game and again SDS is too lazy to fix the problem. They constantly try to fine tune the game and consistently ignore major problems in the core gameplay.

I keep reading these posts about baserunning and wonder why that is. I never EVER have any problems with any baserunning whatsoever. Is it a settings issue?

it has never once been an issue for me either.

This has been the only year I've ever had any base running issues. Mainly for me, using the analog to target an individual runner is not working nearly as well as prior years and using L1 to advance all has left a runner on 2nd while the batter runs to 2nd. Also, if you second guess advancing, you might as well just go for it, because your runner seems to have a ridiculously hard time getting back to the previous base.

Also when you hit a fly ball the guy on base waits way too long to start running, even if it's clear its going to land.

Okay, but you still have the option to send him whenever you want

Baserunning is broken and has been for years and they will not fix it. I've had runners sliding on clear base hits with 2 outs. I had one in a showdown with a perfect line drive base hit and instead of the runner taking off for third and scoring on the play he went back to second base. Hitting, fielding, pitching and baserunning are all jacked up.
