No Hitters
-
Has anyone ever been pulled from 3 no hitters in 1 season? JV has already been pulled twice. I cannot imagine he is allowed to pitch more than 6 inn tonight with the playoffs around the corner. 10K no hitter through 5.
Hell, it would be the 3rd time in 6 weeks lol.

It's much more commonplace in the last few seasons the way the game is now. Probably not that many in a season though. Side note, JV could have shattered Nolan Ryan's no hitter record. I would be shocked if he wasn't the all time leader in no hitters lost in the 9th lol

Probably not helping the Astros are teeing off tonight too. He might be done through 5.
Edit: Yep, pulled through 5. 3rd No Hitter he has been pulled from in less than 6 weeks lol.

Pirates starter went 8 innings on 3 hits, got pulled, bullpen gave up 3 runs on 1 BB and 2 HRs

And all for a useless stat called pitch count.

Considering JV is 39 and coming off TJ surgery, probably best to watch how many pitches he's throwing

Curious here...What's more important: having your star pitcher go nine for a shot at a no-hitter in the second to last game of the season, knowing he's going to unload all his best bullets for a personal accomplishment, especially in a game that was pretty much decided in the 1st inning - OR - taking him out when your team has already blown the game open to save his arm, and his stuff, for the playoffs knowing he'll benefit from the rest?
