Agree with everything outside of the lineouts. Feels like those are now back in full force.
I haven’t had it, I seem to get rewarded as I should on a consistent basis
Especially on HOF. Since playing this event, I think I’ve had 1 good/okay where it was a hanging slider and was centered up with trout. Other than that one outlier, it’s played almost perfect for me. -with a 30+ game sample size.
Same man, one outlier swing for me as well, but nothing in my other 25ish games that felt like I was getting screwed over
Yeah, I actually really enjoy the event because of it. I’m such a sucker for BR though because I want the flawless run and to finish collections, but it tests my patience because half of the games seem like a crapshoot between people playing afternoon games in MLB stadiums, lunging at pitches in the dirt and foul tipping them, and good/okay feedback is much more prevalent. It seems like it was much easier to go 12-0 last year and in 17 than it is in 20.
I agree Harry...things usually have to go your way in BR but I feel as if that's more than true this year.

I agree. Fielding is the one true issue with this game. It it hard to hit? Yes. Is is because the game is trash? No its because I am trash. Do weak hits fall sometimes and screw people over? Yes. But people don’t complain when they win a game because of lucky hits. I won an RS game last night in like 12-13 innings. I won the game because he left his reliever in for too long and walked 2 in the last inning. However I had no business even sending the game to extras because I scored on 2 early/ok solo shots and an error. I also lost a game where I outhit my opponent 13-5. Was the game out to get me? No. I choked with RISP and less than 2 outs 5-6 times. I haven't hung nearly as many pitches since the pithing patch. It still happens but I know for a fact people just get lazy when pitching and blame it on the game. I have a feeling that alot of the hardcore complainers are good at madden or 2k and automatically assume they should be good at this game
I agree with you, I played a game in RS last night for the first time in a week. I only hung one pitch it was with Wood and my opponent crushed it. I will take that one hanging pitch over what it was. I think I left Wood in to long so that was my fault. I lost that game 3-2.

Funny you should say that. I just did the same a couple of hours ago. I was starting to think my connection was lagging out or something so I figured I'd go back and see if I still had those issues on 19.
Nope, played fine, had no problems with fastballs.
So I'm relieved it's not just me, its the game. I'm not going to argue about what is better and what isnt. But what I do know is that I'm not having any fun with this game and haven't been since 1.05 or whenever the hacked pitch speeds. So I'm going to take a break from playing online for a while.
I'll still be around here though.
Sometimes that all you need is a break from online. I took a break from RS for about a week. I kept getting one game away from PR, and then lose every time. I was like nope playing this no more. This week I was able to win and move up. I do not play a ton of RS. I started out 0-4 and I think I am 19-24 now. I am usually above .500. I think that is pretty good because I hate at hitting so this year I been Choosing cards for hitters cause I can pitch pretty well. My current lineup is:
Mantle
Snider
Sandberg
McCovey (Rakes)
Sanchez
Bregman
Granderson
Ripken (Just got him) -

I played 17 recently. I know that game had major flaws like the just late exit velos and top spin heavy swings. But man that game was awesome.
Lmao the golden days. I remember that, played so much I took a year off after (18). Remember how guys with 2 handed swings were OP and everyone's CAP had Corey Seager's swing?
Absolutely. That POTM Correa was a god too. And Beltran in the outfield. Good times.

The thing is, if sds wants the game to play this way that's fine, its their game. They can decide who to cater to. I just wish they would have said that before I wasted $90 on it.
-
Good-Okay is the new “lineout” never had “good-okay” in perfectly squares up balls in 19
-
Hitting is good enough right now but the fielding and baserunning are extremely frustrating and it’s taking the joy out of the game for most. That and the way hits are recorded as errors and vice versa plus the announcers saying the wrong thing at times, just makes for an overall sloppy experience. I love this game, I just hope they tighten it up a bit

Posted about this once already this year. This game feels rewarding for the most part besides pitching. I will play a ton of games this year. Already at 100 event wins. Want the 20 pack and then I'm done. Maybe another prospect shot but I need to get back to grinding WS currently 756. Just not excited about the WS WS rewards. With a 99 kluber on the board already give me a half decent diamond to combat him. Just my opinion. Also lag is the only thing I see in game that I have never seen like that in a show before. I cant swing at pitches sometimes or attempt to throw a strike on the mound because of meter jumping, even unforced errors in the field

Remember last year when frickin Ichiro was the unstoppable card? Bloop hit after bloop hit and speed cheese. 20 is so much better from my end.

Just played a couple event games in 19 on HoF. Still felt a thousand times better than this game. I dont know what to say.
I understand what the really good players like about it. I dont know what the answer is honestly.

Why don’t you focus on getting better inputs and playing the game to improve and have fun?
When I first started playing I was bad at this game. Instead of giving up, I tried to learn from every AB I had to understand my strengths and weaknesses, and to form a plan at the plate to make me successful.
I’ll be honest, I’ve never been able to hit an inside FB (except for MLB 18: slow pitch softball edition).
In MLB 17, 19, and now 20, I still can’t hit inside FBs. Do you know what I did about that? I stopped swinging at them and I’ve been extremely successful even with my slow bat and reflexes just because I formed a plan at the plate rather than complain that FBs are too fast. I adapted, rather than complaining to SDS to adapt the game for me.
I’ve seen this board have the same names complaining for 4 straight years. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

Hey Nash, thanks for sharing the way to beat you hahaha. I look forward to our next game (friendly or in ranked/event) Haha! We’re due for another one since all of our games are really enjoyable.

I’m having a blast this year. Love the smaller PCI and I feel like good placement is getting rewarded more. One issue though would be with too many good-oks ending in weak contact with near perfect PCI placement. Showdown is awesome for building a no money spent team. 100% agree 20 is better than 19 right now.

People want to go back to being able to bloop their opponent to death, not me, no thank you.

Last night I went back and played a game of 19, 20 is soooo much better, fastballs in 20 seem faster, off speed pitches in 20 are slower, the pci changes are amazing in 20, heck even the strike zone in 20 is better, in 19 the zone is black and it’s actually quite distracting. You don’t have line outs galore in 20, if you can consistently square up the ball you’re going to get rewarded, you don’t have the ridiculous constant bloops that 19 has. The analog meter in 20 goes so much faster which is nice. 20 has issues with fielding and to a lesser extent pitching but overall 20 is a much better game.
i agree completely

Here’s the thing with this game. Just now I lost 3-2 to my opponent that struck out 20 times. Hit only contact were 3 homers and all mistakes. 2 singles. I got 2 runs on 3 hits but I had 8 contacts that were outs. To me. In my opinion. This is not good gameplay. I’m constantly losing to these players that have 15-20 strike outs but get these mistakes that they crush. WHY my question is to you. Is the only contact this dude made all hits and my contact is outs? How is this decided? If I were more consistent maybe like you are I could win. However — that still should not be the case. If I’m out inputting my opponent by double or triple their inputs the decision to make one players outs and another’s all hits is absurd.
He literally had 20 strike outs. You can check the game log. The inputs he made were all good ok. And they were all rewarded. My inputs were good/squared, good good no perfects that weren’t hits. But still. This imo needs work.
I don’t find this to be one game. It happens a lot. My question is also this. How much better does one have to be in order to consistently win. Because I was clearly better then this dude. All he did was flail swing 20 strike outs. And then a ball would miss and he’d crush it.
-
Btw I have A lot of games that I strike my opponent out 15-20 times and lose. And everyone of those games I out input my opponent by more then double.
-
I will say also I would be fine with the input part if they eliminated mistakes. It’s basically a guaranteed homer for someone striking out that many times because they don’t see a ball.

I get being annoyed at hangers, pitching needs work, A lot of work! but it's really annoying to me when I see people equate strikeouts with winning or losing.
Just because your opponent strikes out 20 times doesn't mean you necessarily deserve a win everytime that happens.
