The problem I have is that most of the time, I will take the lead, pitcher will look over twice, I'll hit steal button, pitcher delivers the pitch and then the runner takes off. No wonder 99 speed guys are out by a mile. What sense does it make that if you press steal, the runner doesn't go until the pitcher finishes his delivery?

I've been using a all speed team and I've been steeling bases like crazy. O'Neil just stole his 45th base so far, he also has 41 HR's for me.

I like stealing bases but get caught as often as not. Even w Rickey. So many times they wait until the ball is out of pitcher's hand before even taking off. It's super annoying. Soon as the pitcher moves they should be off and running, esp. w a 99 for stealing

Check out Razor's post above. It works great to get the proper jump.

the biggest problem is the stupid pitch outs, With the 99 speed and steals those guys will still be safe most of the time, To many times the CPU know when you are going to take off, I usually wait for a 2-0, 2-1, 1-2 or 0-2 count alot of times CPU will though a meat ball you can crush it for a HR.

Can someone tell me the preferred method of stealing? I've tried to press O and L2 and sometimes the runner goes and sometimes they don't. What am I doing wrong?

Look at Razor's post above. His technique works great.

I hear that you can increase the lead off distance when someone is giving off advice, and usually it works, except when it's the pitch out. But I also hear that you shouldn't do it. (It's the L button, might be different since I'm on Switch.) So which works the best for you?

Every time I take that extra step they just throw over until I give up. Then when I steal, even w 99/99 speed/steal I'm out by a mile. Even on change ups. It's so annoying

I haven't tried stealing on my Switch, but I think I could use the same technique Razor posted above and it would work just fine.

I steal any time vs anyone.

Your best jump will be achieved when your baserunner gets lower in his jump.

As you are taking the lead and pressing the steal button do not release RT until
    Your runner gets lower.

There is a moment where he straightens out just after you take the lead. Then he begins to squat and settle in.

That is the time where u want to release RT

I have over 100 steals with J Pierre and out only 13 times.

Similar with my p4 Trey Turner.

If both steal and speed are over 85 you can run on almost any combo of pitcher/catcher.

    But I have stunk w S Marte.

    Too slow.

The reward T Gwynn is also very good.

Your point about Kirk and the inside edge is interesting and I wonder if those are Juan’s outs?

Question: So if you’re holding down the R2 and the pitcher throws over to first, obviously you can’t let go of R2 or he’ll take off. So do you continue to hold R2 and simultaneously press R1 to get back to first?

The pitcher won’t throw while holding R2.
