Im with you on that they are very useable and effective if you re skilled, my point is they were automatically considered worthless by a lot who never gave them a chance because they didnt have velo
I think that’s because SDS made it so, outlier the reliance on velo all were added after the fastball was made useless in ‘18. As @eatyum_PSN stated they over corrected and here we are, outlier heavy META. O well, keeps guys I like to use cheap I guess

I already stated Dallas Keuchel, Signature Mussina is about that threshold to and he dominated.

Yes, I don’t use crossplay on. I have a conspiracy theory about it, probably it’s just me and my tinfoil hat but I always have laggy and shitty connections with other platforms.

Btw, why do you want to hit against 94mph and below? Make it 96 or 97. I think that’s like the perfect speed for fastballs. It will still require people to think and mix pitches to be successful.

They didn't become worthless in 18, unless you and I are thinking of other games, fastballs were useless, it was the Bruce Sutter splitter pitch era in MLB 18
‘19 is the one I’m thinking of then, I was doing fine with sub 97 guys in ‘17, It’s a lot harder to do now with secondary pitch spam feature but can still be done.
And in 17, attributes never exceeded 99 and only a select few had those. That's when it was better.

Velocity gives less time to react, not saying that it's impossible to make non-outlier pitchers good in game, but it's absolutely a challenge trying to balance that.
I have played a few guys that doesn't need an outlier to have a great game. I have enjoyed playing to them because it is pure skills in how they choose them pitches.
But trying to make every good by having an outlier is the worst thing to do in a baseball video game. A video game is about enjoyment, excitement.

Have to disagree, I have a hard time believing that since the introduction of outlier that the player base have improved their skills at pitcher. 90% of players just throw fastball, before outlier you had to think when pitching, now it’s “get anyone with outlier and throw fastball’s all game”.
What are you disagreeing with? You didn't address anything I said there or contradict anything I said, I didn't say that bad pitchers use fastballs to help themselves. I said using a outlier pitcher doesn't make you an unskilled pitcher
Ok and I think it does, prior to outlier being introduced you had to mix well, you couldn’t just rely on your pitchers throwing 102 mph for 12 innings. Top players still mix their pitches when using Nolan but nowhere near as much as they had to in years past. It’s boring “Oh look Nolan again, guess I’ll just sit high fastball for the 100th game in a row”.
I guess I can agree that using a pitcher with outlier doesn’t make you completely unskilled, but it certainly has lowered the skill ceiling.
So if you play someone and they absolutely dominate you with a lower then 94 mph pitcher, and then turn around and use an outlier pitcher, suddenly they become pretty much unskilled just because they loaded up with that pitcher afterwords?
I think what he's trying to relay is that once SDS releases a card where the pitcher has an Outlier quirk (MS Ryan, FS Miller, AW Pedro just to name a few) all other pitcher cars will become obsolete because that's what is META.
I'm, and I'll assume the OP, not saying they should get rid of Outlier. But don't give it to everyone and their grandma.
I agree. That is how it was in its introduction in MLBTS20. Now, just look at many of the pitchers from the All-Star program; if they don’t have a 4seamer with outlier, they have it on their sinker.

The combination of pitchers throwing 102 and pin point sucks the fun right out of the game. Being able to place pitches at that speed on the corners makes it a lot less fun to play IMO. Not to mention the ridiculous difference between a 102 mph pitch and giving someone like Nolan a 78 mph change up you can dot with makes it overly difficult for no reason. Usually you can tell the guys who need to use outlier to pitch well because every pitcher they use in a game have it.
