@SDS Suggestion - don't expire content
-
I've been thinking about this for a while. I know you guys read the forums, and I know you get A LOT of suggestions for the game. Well, here's another one.
Please don't expire content in Diamond Dynasty.
Many players don't have more than an hour or so a day to play a video game (I'm not one of those, but I used to be). Not being able to finish expiring content can be discouraging. The game is already organized so that most content doesn't have to expire; just build on that.
-
Daily Moments: Leave them in their monthly folders for players to finish as they have time
-
Program Features - or Innings: Go back to innings. Have 9 (each lasting a month) and a 10th for the forever inning. The 10th inning can provide content to earn cards only available during Events, Ranked Season, Battle Royale, etc.
-
Conquest Maps: These can still be tied to "innings" or stand-alone games, but they don't need to expire if the "inning" doesn't.
Continue to drop and update content the way it is currently done, but don't have programs expire.
This will do more than make it easier for more people to play the game the way they want, but it will make it possible for those who buy the game late to still progress and not miss out on cards or programs. In addition, it will make MLB The Show more relevant. People will buy previous year's games because of the content only available in that game.
There is probably more that I am not thinking of, but this is a good starting point. Yes, I realize that not everyone will agree with this and that is fine. You can't please everyone, so why try?
Thank you for listening (if you have your screen reader on)

I'm going to touch on your Conquest post.
Don't have maps expire. Just have the XP you get for 'finishing' that map tie into the program when I was released.
This way you don't have someone stockpile Conquest Maps so they can get a quick 100K+ for one program

They could put the innings on a point system like they do for the player programs. That would solve the stockpile problem.

You would still need to have the points you get for completing the map tied into when it was released.
Imagine a 99 Griffey being the main bis again and it comes out in the 10th Program but someone waited to do the previous 9 Conquest Maps until then and they get a ton of points towards obtaining him.
Kind of like how people stockpile MTOs and RTTS Archetypes now.
Would be worse.

“Siri, what is MLB the Show 2019-2021”?
-
The thing is the expired content isn't new in fact it's common practice. Most games call it seasons and most other games require you to pay to get full access to the rewards and then it still expires.
-
I was also thinking about this recently wondering why I don't play online as often (not gameplay related)? It is because with the timed programs I always feel obligated to fish stuff in order to not miss out, but would rather be able to achieve anything at my own pace and select what I could unlock or not. I have played 22 by far the least amount in recent years as these timed programs have begun feeling more like chores than previous.
Please return the program star style with a separate XP reward path, those were the good ole days
-
The one thing I haven't seen anyone mention in support of time limiting things is how much more smoothly the servers run this year without them having to track missions and progress from months worth of programs. Authentication seemed to create bottlenecks, especially last year.

They did the points thing back in 2020 and before that you need 300 points to get the bosses. I always struggled to get those 300 points and I am one of those that plays 30 minutes in the morning maybe a little after work but not a lot. Weekend mornings is when I have more time to do gaming. I like the xp style for the programs. I do miss the xp rewards path however.
-
Couple years ago they had Showdown challenges that didn't expire and you could get several different packs from them. I wish they'd bring that back.

20 is when I began playing DD, but it wasn't until after the season was over. All the previous years, I played Franchise and only Franchise. I don't have the institutional knowledge of how it used to be for DD since I haven't been at it that long, and I appreciate the input to fill in those gaps.
