At this point if it’s anyone but him that’s sad and I’m a Mets fan

    .423 batting average
    .459 on-base percentage
    .885 slugging percentage
    11 homers
    26 extra-base hits
    25 RBI
    21 runs

The only way, in my opinion, it would not be Riley is if they decided for some strange reason to give it to a pitcher this month.

He’s been a double monster this month, have enjoyed seeing him finally “break out” big time this year.

Unless a pitcher gets it, I don’t see many hitters that could beat him out, maybe Adolis Garcia for the Rangers, he’s had a solid month as well.

I agree as a Met fan as well. He's a special talent. Someone said we need a RH batter for POM anyway.

I’d imagine his live series card would go Diamond in the next update, so if they give it to Riley, that card would have to be the RH version of Devers.

dude also just broke Hammerin' Hank's record for most XBH in a month yesterday with the walk off against the D-backs. If he ain't the lightning card, then I don't know who is!

    Go Braves!

Dude is making a case for player of the month so far.

If he doesn’t get POTM it will be a shame. Dude was insane.

I also hope we get a Matt Carpenter in the program. His swing is money.

That’s just crazy. I still don’t understand how he’s not a diamond but even more reason for a juiced POTM card.

I think the dark horse for POTM might be Judge. He put up some great numbers as well.

Judge won't be POTM, none of the big 90+ Live series cards will ever be the lightning card.

POTM is ment for players who played way above what their live series card says they should.

    Austin Riley
    Matt Champman

Would be examples of possible lightning cards

Riley’s overall July numbers: .423/.459/.885 (44-for-104) with 11 homers, 25 RBIs and 21 runs scored. From Sports Reference’s Greg Harvey: Riley is the seventh player since 1901 to hit .420 or better with 26 or more extra-base hits in a month. The other six are Richard Hidalgo (2000), Joe DiMaggio (1937), Chuck Klein (1930), Chick Hafey (1928), Babe Ruth (1924) and Tris Speaker (1923).

I think it’s got to be Riley. Matt Carpenter has put up some insane numbers too, but I still think Riley gets the lightning card. Maybe Carpenter and Garcia get cards in the program as well.

That’s stupid. They shouldn’t call it POTM card if that’s the reason.

Welcome to April and May 2022 when Cardinal fans watched Arenado and Goldschmidt get passed over because they already had good cards.

I get that they don't want two versions of the same player competing with each other if they can help it.

Austin Riley truly deserves it. Judge will win the actual AL POTM from MLB but I don't see him getting a card so soon after the all-star card. But I doubt the Yankees will be ignored (when are they ever) because Carpenter may very well get a card.

Carpenter deserves a card. But in reality, SDS can't hold back good cards for what players did in a month. I think July cards are going to be fire. If SDS doesn't do anybody dirty.
