The ratings are heavily based on K/9 and that is holding him back big time. Def agree he should be diamond though

Ok and coming into today he has a 7.6 K/9, whiffing 10 Angels today doesn't salvage that.
It's not that he is not an elite pitcher, it's that SDS's model of what stats matter most make pitchers like Sandy kind of a weird outlier where he is elite in real life, but the in-game stats aren't able to replicate that in the overall

Still 7 is per inning is not too bad a stat. He's young and will only get better. Still the man throws cheddar and dominates. Needs to go diamond stat.

Actually 7 per 9 inning nowadays is pretty pedestrian/below average.. But yes he def needs to be diamond, just won't be an 89

I'm hoping for a big boost. No way he gets a 85 or 86....definitely in the 87 to 89 range.

Again, please look at the stats SDS uses, not MLB, and tell me how he gets that high?

Lol, dont use the Angels as an example. Astros just set all kinds of strikeout records vs them. Including Trout going 0-7 with 7 K's in the first 2 games. Angels are the absolute worst right now.

The issue with pitchers in this game is because it’s not real life, finesse pitchers like Maddox are not as playable as hard throwers. That’s why the K9 is so important to the ratings. Pitching to contact doesn’t apply to a video game lol
Edit: not saying Alcantra or Maddox can’t strike people out but that’s not the focus of their style
