I spent $2 on a scratch-off lottery ticket today and didn't win squat.

NMS I bet.
Definitely $$ spent. But what do you care what I do with my money?
How much have you spent this year to accomplish this?
I'll agree with they can spend whatever they want on it, it's their money. Thinking you've done something special by just spending money is absurd though lol.
Like OP said, why would we care what he spends cash on
I’m just asking how much. No judgement.
Honestly, I haven't kept track but probably about $600. But I also had some great early pulls. For some reason during early access, I was pulling the rare LS cards like crazy.....a few DeGroms, Acunas, 2 Trouts, a few Tatis', and like 6 Scherzers...I found that spending early on the game you can really build a stub stack. And I wasn't actually bragging or flexing. I was sharing my genuine happiness , as someone who has been a collector for years. I am in my 50's and I grew up without much $$$ so when my Dad would get me a pack of cards (back then it was pretty much Topps - then some Fleer and later on Donruss), I'd be soooo happy. Some of my best memories are sitting in the car opening a pack, pulling any Met (Mets fan, grew up in Brooklyn, NY), and sharing that awful stick of gum with my Dad... And for me to actually complete a team collection and then ultimately somehow the entire series, was huge for me. Doing it digitally now that I am providing a better situation financially for my kids, gives me a thrill. It's really not a flex. Just my joy. Don't mean to offend anyone either way. I wish you alll the ability to get every card you want, truly I do. Cheers to all who were kind with their responses and to those who weren't, it's cool. No hard feelings. Enjoy The Show and I hope you get whatever cards you want.

Bragging about spending money is the issue, I couldn't care less how you spend your dough. I spend my money on dumn [censored] too. But spending money to complete something isn't exactly an accomplishment.

Good thing Harvard and all colleges are free lol

You're right, comparing collecting virtual cards to an education system gouging students into life time debt is the same. My bad homeslice.
Side note you can still spend money for Harvard and not walk away with a degree. Most people do have to pass the courses. But you probably already know all this, you with the brain busting comment you made.

Great thing about really good colleges is that you can do really well and be successful afterwards...pay off your student loans....and then have disposable income to spend on hobbies and passions....such as MLB The Show. Amazing how that works, isn't it? SO yeah, I went from growing up in the low income housing projects in Brooklyn to a good college to having expendable income to be able top spend a bit on things like The Show and other hobbies , nice things for my kids, etc. So again I ask - what does anyone have to say about what I do with my money?....I worked hard to get where I am, I have the right to do whatever I want with it,. If people are jealous and salty about it, that says more about them than it does about me. Like I really care what people think LMAO.

I don't care what you you with your money. Bragging about completing a virtual card collection isn't the same as paying for school and finishing it. I don't care about your back story. I am not remotely close of being jealous of you having more of anything than me, let alone virtual cards. What my point has been all along is you don't deserve a hero cookie for completing something with money. It's not like you studied for opening packs, but you both want to compare it to spending on education, them completing that class through your own hard work. If you can't figure out the difference you may have rocks for brains.

I get what you’re saying…Making WS is an accomplishment, Going 12-0 in BR is an accomplishment…You can’t buy those achievements…Buying every card in the game just because you have the money available isn’t an accomplishment. Someone could literally do that in a day if they just went to town with a credit card. Definitely a weird flex or happiness flex or whatever he called it lol

Exactly, spend whatever you want, however you want too. Thats a choice anyone can make with their money..
Bragging about it is nutty to me. Then trying to compare it to going to a university is even more batty. -

Hahahahahaha okay relax man I was joking! And if you couldn’t tell the sarcasm in that post about college and a video game basically being the same thing, then idk what to tell you lol get a sense of humor or something? I know they offer drama courses in college!

It’s all about value. I choose to use my money to buy my financial independence and retire in my 40s. I value that freedom more than I value frivolous things like digital baseball cards that lose all utility in 9 months or so. If the OP chooses to do the opposite by spending on such things, that’s his prerogative. If he’s got the money to do both, then I congratulate him.
-
I’ll add that I used to spend money ($100) on this game. I purchased stubs back in 19 to finish the Mays collection. I learned that it didn’t feel like an accomplishment at all and took away from the experience of using him. NMS is more fun, to me at least. It’s also not difficult.

You're back peddling faster than Devon White for a flyball in the early 90s bud. Good try though. You literally quoted me trying to light me up, now you're 'joking'. Maybe the education system owes you an apology

NMS is not difficult IF you're willing to spend more time, grind for packs, and flip. Ugh.

Because if you bought the cards it's not an accomplishment to be crowing about out here.
It's like crowing about how great of a businessman you are when in reality you inherited a billion dollar business from your dad.
-
NMS people, like myself, need to realize we wouldn't complete these collections without the MS people. To each their own.

I think it's the principle of the matter. It's less about how someone spends their money, and more about understanding what an actual accomplishment is per se. Especially as gamers, we are more impressed with actual gameplay or dedication/time put into something. Once someone literally buys a chunk of the progress, we do not care anymore. I think stating how much it cost in the beginning might have gone over better with everyone.

I think the issue is that a person isn't being allowed to be proud of something because other people feel like it was something so easy that anyone can do it. I say so what? If a person is happy about something that isn't hurting others then good for them, and it's ridiculous to see others belittle them over it.
