Based on what I'm reading in a majority of posts. All the many-many reports of AI controlling the experience. What I've seen with my own eyes..I don't think it's a stretch at all.
If I was one of the marketers in SDS I, for sure, would aspire to create this illusionary hierarchy that could drive pack-sales. Anyone that can't, at least, consider it possible..knows nothing about product marketing.
I mean..possible is undeniable. It's software boyz. You can write whatever you want into it. Do you think by picking "All-star" or "Legendary" as your gameplay that's the only possible way you can be playing at that level? We all know the AI manipulates these difficulty levels on a whim and on the fly.
As far as that goes it would be just as programatically simple to create bot players that achieve at a higher level.
I believe SDS employs some extremely talented and focused technical folks that are able to create an animation-simulation that truly looks good. For the most part can make it feel like you're really playing baseball. Kudos..
But more than that I know, without a doubt, SDS is a shrewd and very profitable software marketing company. They want to market a game that attracts the largest audience (bottom-line profit). They'll throw whatever mechanisms in that can ensure that.
Everything I mentioned would fall right in line with that business objective. Not be a conspiracy. You really need to read up on what a conspiracy means before throwing the word around in the context of gaming companies and marketing their product.

Not that related, but I need to vent. I started a new job in February. In the span of 2 months my boss said that:
-9/11 was an inside job
-the CDC and WHO can’t be trusted because they are puppets
-covid-19 is a hoax while simultaneously being created in a lab in Cuba so they can sell the cure
-I shouldn’t eat Chinese food because of the virus
-she wasn’t canceling her Disney World trip (before they cancelled it for her) or her CRUISE in June
-she was going to church anyway because god would protect herIs she single? Asking for a friend.

I believe she is, sir.
To make matters worse, I taught critical thinking classes before I took this job. Now I just nod and smile.

It really is, gives you a glimpse into how these people who come up with wild conspiracies think.
Everything is sinister, everything is out to get them. And allow we need to do is "open our eyes" and we will see to.

And only because of a naturally-occurring virus? Perhaps it did, but don't ever think there isn't a bigger picture. Because at the point you believe your concept of truth is all that is possible...you can get the chef's surprise.
Not going to go down the C19 debating road. If you want to break that one out , truthfully, head out to Twitter and debate with the big boys.
Debate with the big boys? Lol.
I’ll just say a few things:
-There are an infinite number of things you do not believe despite them not being readily disprovable.
-A lack of evidence is just cause for skepticism.
-Paralysis of decision can be avoided by making common sense judgements with the credible information we do have. -

Here is a thought. More conspiratorial than fact-based, but quite plausible. Surely would fit into a marketing strategy by a gaming company.
I believe every year SDS chooses a random set of userId's to "relax" the AI on. Perhaps set most of their online experience to "Veteran" difficulty or whatever. Those are your consistent 800 folks. And, believe me, that would easy-cheesy for the programmers to integrate into the game. A simple coded switch.
By doing this SDS has created a "point of reference" that the fan-boys can recite to argue the game-play is based on player skill not AI. Really isn't another valid argument I've ever heard than this. Don't know how many times I've seen some one type "It has to be real or so-and-so wouldn't always be 800+". Well, my response is "you have to be gullible" to believe that's any sort of quantifiable metric. Marketing...pure and simple.
I wouldn't put anything passed anyone. It doesn't matter any way because if this were true, there'd be know way to know for sure.

-Paralysis of decision can be avoided by making common sense judgements with the credible information we do have.I'll say a few things back as it relates to The Show. Definitely not getting off the beaten trail..that's for another forum altogether.
I see a lot, perhaps the majority, of posts out here of people mentioning all the inconsistencies and "cheats" as some call it in the game. I consider my own experiences with the game. It's aligns with what "perhaps the majority" are saying. These are things I believe that ARE readily provable if you have any confidence that "perhaps the majority" aren't all lying or confused.
Is there a lack of evidence? typically personal testimony holds up in court. I realize no ones going to get cited for perjury lying about a console-game experience, but why else would they share? I see no motive. A large percentage of the stories aren't because they are "losers" (the other, aggressive and bullying, argument that the fan-boys break out). It's often just observations during play..not during losing.
Now, would folks that have a vested interest in the success of SDS sales have a motive for arguing with ALL THE MANY REPORTS ON THIS FORUM OF BS AI INTERVENTION. I believe they would.
And if AI intervenes to control the outcome of a game...ever.....that game isn't a realistic competition where the "winners" of the game should gloat about their victories and pretentiously label those on the other side of the AI curve as non-winners. It's a game that is horribly flawed..at least in the context of being representative of an authentic sports simulation. That's all.

This is an error in thinking. No, really. There is literally a name for it - the bandwagon fallacy.
I’d also note that eyewitness testimony is quite unreliable. It’s influenced by so much of our inherent biases, like biases that shift blame from one’s own shortcomings to something external.

This man acting like a lot of people in RL don't get mad about losing. Everyone is a perfect saint who's only motive in posting negative things is to better the game.
Not to mention, this site, reddit, and Twitter don't represent the majority of the game, most people go about playing it without ever posting, so drawing any conclusions based on posts is folly.
The reason so many people claim about the game forcing them to lose is simple, if something is repeated enough, it gets believed. I see a post that claims the game is making that person lose, I remember times I lost, and suddenly I start thinking, wait what if it's not me? Plenty of people want that excuse.
If I tell you to look for Yellow cars, suddenly you'll start seeing yellow cars everywhere because you are aware of it. Even though the amount of Yellow cars didn't actually increase, you just weren't looking for it before.
Same principle applies here. We all know the game isn't perfect and there are flaws, but if someone is looking for the game purposingly making them lose, they will see those flaws as intentional actions, and surmise the game is making them lose.

?? Ok, you give..I get it.
Ha...but really, I like the game enuf to buy it every year...Believe it's like how women relate pregnancy. It can be horribly stressful and painful, but our memories forget the degree of pain and we do it all over again.

Thanks, you really disproved everything I said with that sentence.
Tell me how my logic is wrong, otherwise you are just blowing smoke. -

I’m sorry but when there’s video/photo being shared of the game doing stupid stuff that benefits one opponent over the other, well you can’t sit and say players are just imagining it. It actually happened, it was captured and shared. Funny thing is this topic is brought up multiple times a year, every year. It’s not a coincidence that many players are “imagining” things.
