Just had 6 perfect perfect outs against Scherzer in Showdown

I won’t waste my time on rng mode showdown. I don’t see any need for it. I got to 300 stars in the 1st inning without it.

Showdown has been the best offline mode SDS has ever added. It's challenging but that's what makes it fun. Yeah, sometimes you get unlucky, it happens. Get em next time. But it's a million times more fun than Conquest or Moments and it's not even close. I really hope they don't change it to cater to the "I want all the rewards but only want to play on Rookie" crowd.

I agree with this! I think that’s what makes showdown so great. It took me a couple days to beat the first inning showdown but when I did it it felt extremely rewarding!

It's a script folks. different for everyone. Don't get up tight. You're just watching computer-generated animation that occasionally reacts like you expect the controller input to produce. The people that are saying "I do ok against Scherzer" or it "took me 3 times, but I got it" are either being truthful in that they just finally got the random "beatable" script, or they are perpetuating the SDS theme I keep seeing..."Keep practicing, and if that don't work BUY more packs. " The real classic one is "Practice on legendary and that will make your reactions better" Sorry, it seldom has anything to do with reactions.
It's hard-line logic in the AI script that determines outcomes. Skill doesn't change an "if statement" or "case statement" in a program that says "this time have the animation show a blazing fast ball coming across the middle of the plate, but regardless of the "swing input" give audio feedback that "he just swung through that fast-ball". WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO? Nuthing you can do.
Practice doesn't help when you're playing an AI that doesn't react against an opponent's skill level, but rather the predictive logic and preordained script set prior to the game even starting.
I don't know if this year's generation of the game is the most blatantly obvious in that regards or I'm just more in tune because I'm locked in playing a whole heck of a lot more games and purposely being observant of the AI animation generated as it pertains to what my eyes and logic deem are possible results. Seldom fits.

I’m pretty sure they patched to get everyone’s averages down because they were through the roof.
-
Only took two tries to beat the AL East showdown, and I’m not that good.

I honestly don't know if most people here play games other than this. But showdown is meant to be hard and pure nonsense at times. It's trying to simulate the experience of playing a "final boss." This is their first try at doing that and it's not as bad of a mode as people think. The mode isn't broken, it's made to be challenging by purpose and that's ok. There's plenty of video games I play during the week that have boss battles that frustrate the [censored] out of me but I don't call the game broken.

The difference is, when I face Ludwig in Bloodborne, through trial and error you can develop a winning strategy. In Showdown, At some point RNG will kick in, and it'll either help you or hurt you, through no fault of your own. Now I'm not one to say they need to make this thing [censored] easy, or even change the difficulty at all! I just think that you can make a couple adjustments that won't completely change the mode. Whether it's buying a one time use checkpoint, or scaling rewards based on the difficulty of the boss (NL East vs Scherzer is magnitudes tougher than AL West vs Ohtani for example, but the reward is the same)

Lol checkpoints... Getting showdown runs towards the final boss is already a checkpoint. I see what you're saying though. The rng is annoying I can't deny it. I do know that the greatest equalizer is definitely patience at some point it works out..
P.S shout-out for the bloodborne mention! Pure love for the game.

When I say checkpoint, I mean like, if you get past a Nola, but lose to a Scherzer because 6 perfect-perfect outs, you should be able to pay 2k stubs to restart right after Nola and try it again. If you fail at the checkpoint you'd have to start over, but it's basically a paid mulligan

I’ve completed this game mode approximately 20 times and failed maybe twice.
-
I've given up on Showdown for now. I'm 1-3 in the AL East, 2-3 in AL Central and 0-3 in AL West (Ohtani has my number). It's just too frustrating to have nothing to show from it other than losing stubs and a little XP/program points. I'm playing MtO to get affinity points now. Maybe if they spread out the affinity tickets to each showdown or reduce/eliminate the buy in fee, I'll try again.

I've purposely drafted the worst players possible and put them in my lineup just to be challenged in Showdown. It still doesn't happen...I can't lose...it's actually, for me, just not fun anymore. I'm not saying I'm the best player or have the quickest reflexes, but all the Showdown modes are just ho-hum.

You’ll win showdown as soon as you put enough stubs for the AI to let you win. It’s rigged
-
Will you continue the daily Showdown posts? I’ll need to find some new emojis. -
Dude just sit on the high fastball and wait, it’s easy. Just wait til they mix them up with Kluber or some yet to be released god like 99 Nolan Ryan or 99 bob gibson...... or showdown extreme on legend and costs 5k to enter an is an absolute Shiiit show

I’m actually terrible at this game. I just don’t swing at every pitch. If a strike isn’t in the zone where I’m looking I take it.
