Yeah, people would typically do that on the top end high value cards to avoid exactly that….easily could have stored on trout.
But, have heard good things about him so good luck and lesson learned!

What did you get him for? It looks like he dipped into the upper 40s.
If you were stashing stubs you probably should have done multiple orders in the 20s. Headliners have a tendency to drop in value when new packs and headliners are released.
