It's a wonder why Albert was pitching in the ninth and got so much praise. Didn't he give up a bunch of runs?
Because it was a blowout. It was 15-2 when they let him pitch. Fun for the team, fun for the fans (since it was a home game) and it allowed their bullpen to have a day of rest.
Why the praise? Because it was Albert Pujols pitching.
Longo asking for the ball after he got a hit. LOL. Good Stuff.

I missed that. I just went and found the clip. That was great. It will be a very rare group of people who can say that they got a hit off Pujols. And Longo can say that he is the first one to do so.

That would be nice. With the retirement of Ryan Zimmerman, Molina and Waino are #1 and #2 on the longest tenured players in MLB. They made their debuts with the Cardinals in 2004 and 2005. They set an all time MLB record last nigh and are in a position to set another one later this season.

Albert, I believe, is the longest active player but tenured implies that the player played continuously for a single team.

Saw the game in Chicago in ‘04 Cards came back from being down 6-0. Pujols went 5-5 with 3 bombs. I’ll remember that forever!

The Braves have traded some great young prospects through the years, I think Wainwright was the biggest mistake. Though I would have loved to see what Jermaine Dye could have done with the Braves.
Then there is Atlanta trading for Kevin Gausman and giving up on him after a year. But I digress.

They have not brought anyone up who could easily surpass him, definitely not his defense and knowledge of the pitchers and the game.
Their top catching prospect over the years has been Carson Kelly. Look at his offensive numbers this year compared to Molina.

I respected the decision to let Albert go. It was smart. Keeping Yadi wasn’t.
Every contract Yadi has signed has been perfectly reasonable. His defense and handling of the pitching staff has been vital to the team's success during his tenure. Since 2011 when Albert left he's been the best defensive catcher in baseball.
Besides Buster Posey, who else should have they signed
. In 18 seasons Yadi has made almost 164 million dollars. That's less than 10 million dollars per season for his career.Yadier has a career fWAR of 55.9. in 2006 1 fWAR was worth 4.8 million dollars. So for 164 million dollars, the Cardinals got in return 268 million dollars of value, without adjusting that the price of WAR has only gone up.
You sir don't have the credibility to judge an office fantasy GM, let alone a MLB GM
