Is our first 125 h/9 pitcher is coming?
-
Read detmers for the Angels just pitched a no-hitter. Last year that meant a card with 125 h9
-
Reid Detmers > Randy Johnson
-
Doubtful. Spencer Turnbull threw his no hitter on may 19th last year and his Topps now card had 95 H/9

I hope not!

And he was only the 2nd best pitcher of the night. But hey, a no hitter is a no hitter. Congrads to him.

Well that's not saying much. That's an obvious statement

Verlander didn't complete the task. He is runner up for sure

For sure, he just had a more dominate outing though. 1 hit shut out facing the minimum. And I got to watch both games. That is a rarity for me.
And definitely more shock value from the Angels guy compared to Verlander lol.

Too early for 125 H/9. They’ll probably give him something lighter

I know it is early in the season but Detmers is on pace for AL rookie of the year

Idk about all that. He has a 3.77 ERA and this is his first outing going more than 5 IP.
Still a bit early for that kind of talk.

I said it is early, and how many pitchers even pitch pass 5 innings in today's game.

Looking at AL Rookies again yes it is early
1Julio Rodriguez was the favorite going in to the season
2Torkelson
3Bobby Whit Jr
Jeremy Pena
Joe Ryan
Steven KwanO'Neil Cruz was/is the favorite in the NL

Tork's statcast numbers have to be the only thing keeping him up here, because his traditional numbers stink. His basball savant page is pretty interesting though because he does very well in Exit velo, hard hit rate, chase rate, and Walk rate. He just strikes out alot on pitches in the strike zone

Verlander went 8 innings and gave up a hit and two walks. He had like 3 more strikeouts but also put more guys on base in one fewer inning. Doesn’t seem like a more dominate performance to me.

If they give ant pitcher 125 h/9 I'll be done for the year.

He faced the min and pitch count was great, he didnt pitch the 9th because he is old and gave up a hit in the 8th and wasnt worth it to send him back out. Plus having watched both games, Verlander definitely had his opponents under control more than the other guy. But it only takes that one hit to get poked through to make it look bad on paper lol.
