I bought the Series S last year and upgraded to the Series X this year. Most games look great on the S and run well. The Show dropped frames every once in a while, but I thought it was better than the PS4 version. To me, the X was worth the extra $200, but the S is still solid if you can't afford the difference or can't fine an X.

So series s will do the trick? Only play one game, this one. Or get the X? -
I’m PS4; had an S for a week when I rented a vacation house; really not impressed. Go for the X if you can. I’m waiting for PS5 to be available, but if I decided to switch, I’d go X for sure

I have a Series S and I love it.
Now I will admit I am uneducated when it comes to video output and optimal settings blah blah blah. That said I am very happy with my purchase it plays all the games I want and need a 60FPS and 4k or upscale 4k I don't quite understand but it works and looks great.
Side note going from PS4 to any next gen you will look back on how much time you have spent in loading screens over the years

I’m on Series X and I’m happy with it. It was also the first current gen console in stock when I had the money. I didn’t have interest in the S. I will still get a PS5 when they are more readily available but if the reports are true, the reason Xbox is more readily available is because Microsoft struck some sort of deal with semiconductor manufacturers to get first dibs. I think Nvidia did the same.
From the few people I know with an S, they’ve really enjoyed it so it could be a good choice.

I heard there is a different type of controller you should get, is there truth to this?

That’s funny because my main gripe with the S was the loading time for a supposedly next gen comsole.

Not sure, I have read that a wired controller has better response time but the likely hood if true the average gamer wouldn't notice

Just wondering why dont you just get an other PS4??????
If my PS4 went bad, I would go get an other PS4 if I couldn't afford a PS5 or if it was going to be too much of a wait before I can get 1. So PS4 would be my best option because I already have money vested into games purchased. MLBTS 16-22 & many other different titles that I would not be able to re-download on Xbox or Nintendo (if they happen to be on either of those consoles) without having to pay for those games again.
My PS4 Game Library has about 30 games that can only be re-downloaded either onto PS4 or PS5. Makes no sense to invest into Xbox if not the Next gen console & with intention of getting several games for it which I have not already purchased for PS4
