Thanks for turning on 120hz for offline. That was a good first step, yet when are you going to enable it for online??
The 120hz reduced my input lag in half on my LG CX (10.9ms at 4k@60 and 5.9ms at 4k@120). Now just need 120hz running anytime, all the time, offline and online. So, when is 120hz going to be turned on online? I suspect it will require all of your cloud servers to be rebooted. Feel free to reboot them anytime, as playing the game at 120hz is incredible....like I said it would be when I originally posted about asking about this over a year ago.
Not having 120 online too, makes playing the game hard as the timing windows are now very different. Let's not punish us players who spent $$$ on systems that support 120hz ..... and please enable 120hz for online play ASAP.
Play offline on Legends until they enable it.
Su
Aren't you an Xbox player? You guys already have it enabled if I'm not mistaken.
My reply didn't deserve a "su" btw, it was a suggestion so you have a similar experience both online and offline.

No, it wasn't enabled before. System-wide you could put the Xbox on 120hz, but it didn't mean the game would abide by that (it could override it). Yesterday was the first time I saw 120hz at the game level this year (although I saw it last year as well during one particular release).
The game just allowed 120hz yesterday, because of the PS5 VRR patch that just got released this week. 120hz on the Xbox wasn't allowed to be enabled because even though the Xbox could do it, they didn't want the Xbox version to play better than the PS5 version, so it just got turned on yesterday, at the same time due to the Sony VRR patch coming out.

They will. Cat's out of the bag, now. I also posted on this multiple times, begging them to turn on 120hz, and why it makes a difference. It reduces my input lag in half. They wanted to roll it out to the consoles first, then I suspect they will have to reboot all of their cloud servers once to enable it there, and then we should be good. The consoles having it was the important first step, as the consoles and monitor connection really determine and impact the display, so now that the hard part is done, it should be easy to turn on at the server level.

Look, I'm a software and hardware engineer. I have been saying that the Xbox Series X is way better than the PS5 for over a year, based on reading the specs (and knowing the software in each system). The game runs better on Xbox than it does the PS5 (I've played the game on the PS4, PS5 , Xbox One S and Xbox Series X).... and it plays better without a doubt on the Xbox. It has to do not only with the Xbox Series X hardware being better, yet also because the software on the Xbox is better than the software on the PlayStation, which is just a fact (the Xbox software is much more modern and also has much better driver support than the PlayStation software).
Now, that said, I have not seen the 120hz enabled online, just saw it (it is very noticeable) offline. Would need screen captures from others to show them online and the 120hz readout from their monitor, yet I haven't seen it 120hz online yet, just offline.

Not here to argue about which one is better or has better hardware- I’ve just always been a PS guy so I got a ps5
The important point that you have brought up, whether correct or incorrect, is that you’re saying 120HZ is not available online for Xbox in this game.
There are tons of people that are saying it is and they have been jumping out of windows a la Great Depression and buying Xbox’s at alarming rates to get an advantage at the plate in mlb the show lol…
All I’m saying is it should be clarified what is actually going on so people are clear on what they want to do next.
I’m not buying an Xbox but I’m speaking for others that have already stated they are or have already made the purchase
And plus a lot of ppl are saying Xbox ppl have an advantage online bc of the 120hz- again not from my experience bc most of the good ppl I play are in PS5 but idk
So long post short- it’s just very confusing to see these conflicting statements from diff ppl and SDS should make a statement

That would be good to know...Maybe an Xbox X user can confirm that they have been getting up to 120hz/60fps in "Online H2H games" since last year?
The thread from last year (posted below) leads me to think that X users do get up to 120hz/60fps online, but they could have been referring to offline:
https://forums.theshow.com/topic/28344/the-show-21-fps/21?page=2
-
You are measuring two different things. 120hz, the monitor will tell you if it is running at 120hz. Utilities on the PC can tell you the frame rate, yet I don't think a port of those applications exist on the Xbox, so you won't be able to determine frame rates.
Also, frame rates vary, which is why the game has the 60fps+ tag in the application. System load, cable health, TV/monitor ability....all can impact the frame rate, and it is not always consistent. That is why it is marketed as "60fps+" , and not just 120fps.
So... I don't think anyone will be able to tell you the exact fps rate, only the monitor 120hz sync rate.

Well I guess for the ppl that are buying Xboxs they want to be able to play online @ 120hz/60fps. I think this all stems from a lot of people are struggling to hit in this game( not me but I see that as a common theme in this site) so they are looking for reasons why they are not- is it their monitor/ tv or is it bc they aren’t on 120HZ like people playing on Xbox. Just a guess
But I do get what you’re saying and if they are worried about an unfair H2H advantage playing Xboters then they can turn off cross play
I like to leave my cross-play on bc I generally find Xboters to be far worse at the game than PS users lol

Aren't you an Xbox player? You guys already have it enabled if I'm not mistaken.
My reply didn't deserve a "su" btw, it was a suggestion so you have a similar experience both online and offline, but do go on being an [censored]
Sorry, the 'su' was a mistype, and it wouldn't let me delete it. Nothing bad intentioned.
This whole thing is so effing confusing and SDS really needs to speak on it-
So according to you Xbox users have not been playing @ 120HZ online?
Because everyone in the MLB show community has been saying otherwise for the past day and a half
PS5 users are actually buying Xbox’s as we speak because of it lol
I mean I already have an Xbox but why would you go out and buy an Xbox when you can just turn off crossplay? I've had mine all for a while.
I have played this game a lot since 17 and this is the worst hitting I've ever had. It is not the monitor. I surely don't think the game being 120 is going to make my good timing in the pci swings fall. Hitting is badly broken. Not sure where it is happening but 8 good timing swings in the pci should not result in 1 hit. I could probably leave the pci in the middle and foul off balls until they throw one down the middle and have more success. Shouldn't be like that but it is.

@tvsectog_xbl said in SDS - When will you be turning on 120hz for online play??:
So I’m watching Kyle’s stream now- not sure if you’re familiar but he’s one of the most popular streamers for mlb the show and always plays on PS5
He is now saying he left ps5 for Xbox bc of the 120hz
So I’m pretty sure Xbox online is 120hz

I can't watch Kyle, as he is too arrogant and self-absorbed. Unwatchable content.
So, a bunch of them, Kyle, Koogs, are said they are now going to Xbox. I have been saying the game plays better on the Xbox for over a year. Big deal that they are moving over now. They are followers. I think they might be switching not because the Xbox is getting 120, just that they have to turn off the 120hz on their PS5's in order to play on Ranked (you don't have to turn off 120 on your Xbox). I think they think the Xbox is doing 120 online, yet it isn't. I think they are just getting confused because they don't have to turn it off on the Xbox, like they do on the PS5.

If your display is 120hz and VRR capable, you should be able to run online at 120hz with an Xbox Series X. Everyone else has been. I’m not saying that you’re lying, but perhaps your display isn’t capable of it or you don’t have VRR turned on. While you might only get 60fps, the VRR is synced at 120hz to your 120hz display, resulting in reduced input lag.

I just noticed a big difference offline, however, I did see something late last year that made a huge difference....so maybe I saw the fix late last year and that is why I'm not seeing much of a difference now. I do know that I saw a huge difference last year when that was significant.

But, I am hitting .370 online in Ranked (up to 800) w/ 63 homers with Trout already, so maybe what I did in February was that I throttled 120 then?

SDS really needs to provide some communication here.
