RTTS is always fun to play but it seems like nothing has changed the last few years. I think for future games it would be a good idea to kind of combine all the different RTTS features throughout the years.
- Instead of controlling only your player, allow an option to control the whole team and make trades and sign free agents etc… the computer trades and off season moves are not always realistic and it’s sucks if you’re on a bad team and can never make the playoffs. Or, when your player reaches a certain overall let’s say 90, he’s able to make team decisions like who starts, or who to trade for or who to sign in the offseason.
- Bring back the showcase before the draft and allow your ballplayers performance to decide where and when he gets drafted. It would be better if we can be drafted in the first or second round instead of automatically being a late draft pick.
- Bring back in season training like the older games. Live BP, situational hitting, situational fielding, situational pitching, etc… and depending on your performance in it decides whether your attributes get a big boost or not. Also bring back the in game showtime diving catch opportunities. Last few games I feel like there is never any diving catch opportunities that make baseball so much fun.
- I like how your ball player can have different load outs but maybe add a home and away loadoat to choose the colors of your equipment.
- Bring back the training goals during the season. For example, when you wanna train to increase your power it would ask you to hit 3 home runs over the next 3 games to receive a power increase, or if you wanted to increase your speed it would tell you to steal a base your next game.
- Lastly, allow multiple home run celebration’s depending on the situation. For example if you hit a go ahead home run in the late innings you obviously want more of an emphatic celebration. But if you hit a home run down 10 in the 3rd inning you obviously don’t want that same celebration.
-
Also I always thought it sucked that since we have to start in the minors we basically miss the entire current season in the mlb. I think it would be better if we had the option to yes play in the minors, perhaps even start at rookie ball or A ball instead of AA to make it more realistic. Play one season where you get called up to AA and then AAA. And then after the season if you do well, get called up and start the current season on the 40 man roster and then make the starting lineup after performing in spring training.

Like the suggestions! I would only add one thing: TRAINING POINTS!! The archetype system is ok, but with training you points you can create ANY archetype you could possibly imagine. Give us back some control over the type of player we want to be!

I agree I don’t like that I can not be the best at everything. I want to be fast and a great defender while also being able to straight rake at the plate

Defeats the purpose of RTTs. Players don’t control front office moves. Maybe adding input could help

Meh, the showcase was pointless and tedious, I’m glad they got rid of it. My guy was drafted in the third round this year..not exactly late

Agreed

I may be in the minority but I hate the load outs. I hate the perks. That’s not how real baseball works. I think any perk should be situational (like stat boost after the 7th for example), and it should be your play that gives you those perks. I haven’t played RTTS in a couple years, but they basically make you play with the perks. They used to not impact as much, so you could play without them if you wanted. My guy is a 45 overall with no perks after one full season, a 75 overall with them.. a 30 point difference in overall because of perks seems a bit excessive

RTTS used to be the standard for all career modes in sports games. Combine the lack of innovation in YEARS to the progress other games have made, and it’s fallen behind.
In my opinion, there are two changes that can put it back on top, and they kind of tie together.
-
Make signing a contract mean something. Get game checks, use the money to buy attribute points or perks etc. (similar to NBA 2k)
-
I think a central hub (like a house) would put it back on top. In the minors you have a trashy apartment. As you make more money and progress you upgrade up to a mansion. They basically already have a hub with the locker room, just change that to the house
Each house will have different ways to view your career highlights. A trophy case (or multiple) for all awards such as individual and team awards (MVP, PoTW/M, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, World Series rings etc.
Maybe another case where you store your balls from milestones (1st hit, 1st HR etc.)
There’s a lot more you can do it with it.
My big problem with RTTS is it almost feels like each game is forgotten the next day.

For those of us that really play, mostly, RTTS, no DD. Alot of these suggestions are built into Franchise & MTO. I would love it if RTTS could just be more immersive.
- SHOWCASE: I’d like to have to really be tested and start stats based on it. DRAFT would be based on real draft dynamics. I’m a 58 OVL 3rd baseman and was drafted by the Cardinals???. Redid the draft, I was drafted by San Diago:) Wouldn’t really happen. Yes, I can choose a team, and I want that to stay, but a lot of us go with a basic draft, more realistic. As of right now, I’m working my way through with the St. Louis.
Yes, allow our awards and big moments to be reflected somehow. - AWARDS: This makes no sense. If I win ROY, MVP, Cy-Young, Gold Glove or Batting Title ect. I will never hear about it again next year. They talk about real players but not us. How wouldn’t we be referred to by the title here and there. Again, this is immersion in a RTTS journey.
Yes, get rid of perks and allow my gameplay to give perks during the game. Allow us to choose which stats to work on/increase. - NAMES: Lastly, Why do the announcers refer to my player, as well as other, by their positions in the field so much? They say their names batting but I’ll hear the position making the play not the name of the player. Again, just removes immersion more and more. Too many prospects are just referred to by their number. This is boring after about 2 to 3 years. Which leads to the other issues, Prospects advance way too fast and unrealistically. How do they advance so fast to OVL rating over 75 and replace real players?

I totally agree with @MileHighMadness1_MLBTS and his reply. Only I would add is that for your #1 request. You can always start a new franchise, create your player and use "Player Lock" with him for every games. You'll have total control and to be honest, the experience in RTTS is so bland that you won't miss a lot of things...
Start him in the minor and as his OV progresses have him being called up and everything...
You'll have less control on his OV but you'll get rid of Perks, loadouts and CAP... Which is something really boring/unrealistic in RTTS anyway...
