I’m a new player to the game and I’ve heard timing and zone are both effective. Which is the better option of the two?

According to some here, timing is the best due to programming and relying on attributes to get dingers.

Most seasoned players will tell you some because it’s more your input + locating the ball. Too streamers and players use zone.

If you want results quick and rely on random outcomes, use timing. It's easier to learn because all you have to do is time the pitch. If you want to become a good player not just for this installment but also for the future releases of this game, use zone. It's way harder to learn but way less random and more rewarding.

I use zone! But my suggestion to you would be, Use whatever you are comfortable with and gives you best experience. Same goes for cameras. Good luck!

Use timing and wait for the game to serve your opponents pitches down the middle of the zone for you to crush. It’s cheesy but effective with half the effort that zone requires. When you want to challenge yourself, switch to zone.

I’d say timing. I’ve been playing since The Show’s creation and zone has always been tricky because it gives you a whole new thing to worry about placing in the right spot every pitch. Since you’re new, you’re already gonna have a hard enough time timing pitches and recognizing balls vs strikes. No need to add more difficulty to that

If OP is looking to be more successful, prevailing opinion would dictate zone. Better to learn it earlier than later; maybe approach online with timing and work zone offline?

Obviously if you’re not equipped to handle zone out of the gate online, you end up losing most games and that’s a deterrent.

I’d recommend OP finding a balance where insert appropriate pronoun still having fun while improving the better mechanics.

I guess I don’t understand why zone is better than timing? The attributes of the players dictate what results you get at the dish. And it’s much easier to suck with zone so I think for newcomers it doesn’t make sense to throw them into the fire

Starting with timing is smart. When you feel like you know where people are aiming switch to zone and try to aim for yourself and you’ll get better results.

When I first started I used it for the first few innings and when I got a read for the other player I’d switch. Then eventually fully switched.

If you really want to see the difference go into batting practice, get a fast ball up, and swing away with both. It will be very obvious which is better once you start aiming zone on it.
