You could use it with buttons as well. Using directional without moving the stick is the same as timing. It’s been that way since they originally changed timing to directional and added the ability to aim where you wanted to ball to be hit.

Here goes another thread of the same whining and complaining from the usual suspects. It’s going to be a long year for them. It must be exhausting complaining about the same thing several times a day for months on end just to repeat the process when the next iteration of the game comes out.

You could use it with buttons as well. Using directional without moving the stick is the same as timing. It’s been that way since they originally changed timing to directional and added the ability to aim where you wanted to ball to be hit.
Perfect, thanks for the expansion on that. I've never used directional, but that makes perfect sense.
If I remember right, people who said they used directional last year were laughed out of the forums. Why do they now think it's the reason they aren't very good at the game?
I'm not very good at the game, it's not the games fault, I'm just old and slow.

Have you tried the timing interface. I used it for 2 games to see what all the fuss was about and if you don't have good or perfect timing its always a swing and a miss. The timing windows are extremely punishing. You know you can say this game sucks without blaming losses on this garbage right?

No they didn’t!!! Timing/direction/pure analog whatever have been here for years, and feedback was removed last year, because 20 was a sh** show. Stop making stuff up

Feedback is created by sending sound waves into an active speaker that is simultaneously sending sound waves out of the speaker. This back and forth movement of sound waves creates a swirl of vibrations, ultimately resulting in feedback.
Originally, feedback was a very undesired side effect of adding electronics to Spanish style guitars. To counteract this, Les Paul invented a solid body guitar, known as the log, to remove the ability for sound to swirl inside an open bodied Spanish Guitar. Fender was the next company to invent a solid body electric guitar. The most popular being the Telecaster, named because of the Television craze of the 1950's.
However, with musicians such as Jimi Hendrix popularizing the use of feedback in music, the musician and audience view of controlled feedback drastically changed. By August of 1969, Hendrix perfected the use of feedback in his now legendary performance of the Star Spangled Banner.

Other solutions for feedback were also invented, mainly a semi-hollow body guitar that is a Spanish Guitar, but with an added block of wood in the middle of the body to stop the swirling sound waves.

Timing is just pure analog from previous years. They added the option to use the button swing, so they changed the name. As another forum user informed me, it's also the exact same as directional hitting when you don't choose a direction.
Why are people complaining about directional hitting? Because they have a conspiracy theory that states they are getting beat online because of this input type. They have no proof that their opponents are using it, and they have no proof that it works better than squaring up a ball with the PCI. But, it sure gives them a reason to complain about the game for no reason.
