why my jersey number keeps changing?

I know when you get called up your number will change if someone already on roster has your number, but why after I get called up my number keeps changing.
I was number 4 in minors and when I made Mlb roster I switched to 11. Then a week later I was wearing 14. Playoffs start and I'm back to wearing number 11. Then in spring training I'm wearing 14 again.
Makes no sense why once I'm on the roster that my number keeps switching.

I had this happen a couple of MLB The Shows ago, like 20? I think maybe it was. I had thought/hoped they had fixed that. My guy's been Number 20 consistently across the board since then, thankfully.

So, this has to do with overall ratings and other players on the team. The game (for the sake of realism, though it's more just annoying), will not give you your preferred number if there is someone much better than you on the team who already has that number. A kind of "earn your number from the vet" type thing.

It should give you your number once you get within a couple overall of the player who has your number. So, not a bug, but a """feature""".

This wouldn't explain why my uniform number is being changed even though nobody else on the team has it. Shoot, nobody at any level of the franchise has my number, but it's changed anyway, and nothing I do will change it back. A ridiculous bug, and yes, it's definitely a bug.
