If you pre ordered on PS and Xbox last year, did you get both sets of Pre Order bonuses after linking accounts?
-
I’m looking to get both the PS and Switch Digital Deluxe versions and I can’t seem to find clear info anywhere on if the pre order bonuses (cards etc) carry over when accounts are linked?
Does anyone have any experience with how the account linking process works for cross platform rewards? If you ordered on both PS and Xbox last year did the pre order cards come across when you linked?
I understand stubs don’t transfer over - but I’m envisioning that you link accounts before starting the game, then open packs on each console separately and all the diamond player bonuses would be available on both consoles as the accounts are already linked?
I’m not too fussed either way, but just don’t want to rip myself off if you don’t get the rewards twice.

No they do not. I'm sure if they did it would've been stated by now.

If you preorder on both systems you're entitled to those bonuses. They probably haven't addressed it because it should be obvious. Can you imagine paying $100 X 2 and only getting $60 worth for one version? Not the same as when they gift a card like Ohtani that is tied to your profile and only available the first time you claim it on whatever system. These are redeemed rewards specific to each system's storefront.
You know the more I keep re-reading your post I don't think I understand your question lol

Sorry should have been more clear.
I want to pre order on both systems - but I’ve seen when you link accounts they don’t merge, it picks one system to use as the “primary” - meaning that it ignores any cards on the other account (including the bonuses).
I’m wondering if anyone bought on both PS and Xbox last year and can confirm if and how they got both pre order bonuses on the same DD account -

When you link accounts you must choose one to be the primary. Let's say I make Playstation the primary and Xbox the secondary. When I log into the Xbox, that account will look to the Playstation account to see what cards/stubs I have access to. Now let's say I play for a month and then unlink. I will have all of the cards and stubs I earned over that month on my Playstation account, and the Xbox account would go back to whatever was on it right before they were first linked.
Based on the way this process has been explained before, I don't see how it would be possible for pre-order bonuses to be combined across accounts.
*This thread with a post from Collin is what I'm basing my logic on.

I only preordered on Series X last year because I didn't get a PS5 until October. Everything came over fine when I merged. I mean if there is a very specific glitch you are referring to only in regards to preorder stuff I've never heard of it. I do remember some people saying their stuff disappeared after linking but pretty sure SDS straightened all that out. Don't think that was about preorder stuff.

Well I look forward to that blog post since I'll be playing on all three systems. It's completely contradictory to offer preorder bonuses while promoting cross-system saves if you couldn't keep everything so I have to think they will confirm it any day now.

You didn't merge though. It sounds like you played on Xbox first, and eventually starting playing on Playstation and you were able to link the accounts so that the Xbox cards and stubs showed up on the Playstation.
That is completely different from playing on the Playstation, playing on the Xbox, and then merging all the cards and stubs you've earned on both, which is essentially what would be happening by combining pre-order bonuses. You would be combining the inventory from two different consoles, which I don't think is possible with the system they have in place unless something has changed this year.

I’d pre order the PlayStation and get it for free on Xbox 4 days later.

My thinking on this is potentially you could link the switch and PS5 accounts before starting the game, then they would be linked from the beginning and you would open packs and the players would be visible on both?
I don’t even care about the double bonus, I just want to know if I would be wasting my money by pre-ordering the digital deluxe version twice -
Think of it this way. You're paying for packs and stubs. If you have an Xbox and and a PS5 and you play the game and earn items; it shows on both platforms. But if you buy stubs during a PS sale; those stubs are only added to the PS account. So say you have 600K in stubs and you buy 150K on the PS system. That gives you 750K on the PS constantly le. But if you sing into your XBox; you'll only have the original 600.
So if pre-order bonuses are in fact 'purchases'; they won't combine.
Don't you every wonder why when they have a stub sale it's only for one platform at a time?
Now with what I just said; if you buy the DD version for the PS4 AND the Switch. When you open the packs; those cards will be tied to that console (just like if you bought stubs).
Also, think of it like how they gave out a pack with Finest Harper. You didn't get one for each console. You got one chance at that pack.
