Ok, so this is going to be purely speculation because who knows when, and if, we will have a season.

It looks like Mar 31st is out as Opening Day and with the owners stating they are willing to miss at least one month's worth of games; how will there not being a season affect LS players AND the market?

Naturally, if there is no season, there won't be roster updates and it would be safe to assume that whatever players are in the game, at release, will be the only LS players all season.

That being said; we can look at a few players that are normally Diamonds (Kershaw and Freeman at least) at being FAs and not needed for their respective team's collections.

Also, with no roster updates; you can count out LS players as possible investments.

Could this affect the amount of stubs that can be acquired by flipping? While we can still flip Legend and FB players; flipping LS players won't be a source of 'income'.

Also, how would that affect the Market with those players?

Could we see low rates Diamonds increase in value?

Could we see Golds increase in value?

Also, could it have a negative affect on prices? As without a season; there won't be a need for IE.

Also, if the season is delayed at least a month (until May at least) I could see LS players being at a premium as Ayers rush to finish the Collection BEFORE any updates/additions to the teams' rosters.

    Thoughts?

I'm curious how it worked in 2020. I know there weren't a ton of big name free agents like this year, but otherwise, wouldn't have been the same with no baseball until August?

If I remember correctly there weren't that many big name FAs because teams were allowed to sign players. They just didn't know how the pandemic would affect the season.

If they don't have a season; why would teams sign players?

Oh for sure, I just meant, I imagine it would be much the same except there are big free agents as you mentioned. Most free agents were signed in 2020 because the season was only 2 weeks away from starting when Covid hit. This year we obviously have several big ones like Freeman, Story, Correa, Kershaw and others that might be diamonds to start the season. So that is a big variable.

I didn't play the Show in 2020 but I imagine this will be a lot like that, much uncertainty as we had no clue when or if the season would start that year. Whatever happened in 2020 should provide some idea of what will happen with LS cards, flipping values etc this season.

I'm assuming that since Freeman and Kershaw ended as Diamonds; they'll stay Diamonds. And with Correa and Story ending as Golds; they'll stay Golds.

But we can't really compare what happened in 2020 to this year; until we find out how long the season will be delayed.

If it's only delayed a month or so; those above players will be on new teams, we'll have IE, and we'll have roster updates.

If there is NO season, and it's a slight possibility, then teams won't have the need to sign Freeman, Correa, Kershaw, and Story. So they'll stay in the FA roster; just like they were in the Tech Test.

Also, if there is no season; there won't be any roster updates. No roster updates means nobody going up a level (Silver to Gold and Gold to Diamond for example).

If there are no upgrades; there won't be any reason to invest into players.

What we may see is the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and maybe even Diamond Legends and FBs commanding a high premium. EX: All those Bronze FBs/Legends that were at 2,500 stubs late in the year.

Those cards may hit that amount earlier than normal.

Or you'll just have to earn stubs the old fashioned way by playing.

We may not see people with a plethora of stubs.

I could also say that without a season; we won't have TN and MA cards; but SDS will just reissue cards from years past in that case.

No season will have a HUGE effect on the LS Collection.

You would think there would be a good reward for just completing the FA collection. Maybe pick a player that would be considered the greatest FA signing.

There’s only one choice for FA Collect Reward, but they’d have to get his rights first.

What I also read was Catfish Hunter was the first FA in the history or the game when his contract was violated. I found the story here is the link. You probably already knew this as well.
