Delay between ball hit and control of fielder

Anyone else having issues in 2v2 co op with a huge delay between when the ball is hit and when it lets you take control of your fielder?
The ball pretty much is on the floor by the time people can take control of their fielders.
Is this an issue in the game or does it have to do with your connection to everyone else in the game?

Yes but I think it's on purpose to ensure you get a smooth animation and transition to make the play. Similar to how your pitcher always slows down at release to provide the same benefit to the batter.
In a multiplayer mode like Coop it's about the only way they can ensure a playable game I would think.
