You can read it in the game log, but basically he drafted a bunch of bunt gods and somehow got on base with his lead off hitter against bunt defense and my 2B playing in. Then he stole, sac bunted with the 2 hole hitter and that got the lead off guy to third because I was barely able to get the guy out at 1st. Then he sac bunted the runner on 3rd in with his third hitter for a 1-0 lead 🤡.

Ok. Yeah, I saw that. But if you had the defense to stop him and it didn't work, why is that on him?

Not trying to condone what he did. But I've seen multiple on here claim that you play the game to win.

Would that happen in an actual MLB game? Probably not. But this game isn't a sim game. Especially DD.

Now, some may say bringing out an Opener is also an exploit; because the game's coding doesn't allow starters to replenish their stamina as fast as relievers.

So, while some may saw he exploited bunting others can also argue that players that use openers exploit the AI's lack of ability to distinguish stamina being replenished between a starter and a reliever.

Did both of you exploit something then?

No, you both used a mode of play that gave you the best possible way of winning.

    Is it right? Who knows.

    Is it wrong? Who knows.

But until this community can agree to play sim baseball AND SDS can implement proper coding; there's really nothing that can be done about it.

Not trying to condone what he did or argue that what you did was wrong; just offering my opinion.

Well I think it's a cheesy way of playing the game. If you intentionally bunt every at bat and there is bunt defense with the 2B playing in (which is THE way to counter it) and you can still have succes... that's called an exploit.

Oh and using an opener in BR is like the most common thing ever and not even close to an exploit. Weird that you made that comparison.

And why do people use Openers? Is it because their stamina refills faster than a starter because the coding in the game can't distinguish between a starter playing in 3 inn or a 9 inn game?

Again, not arguing with you. Just trying to understand how some people think something is an 'exploit' or whether it is 'sim'.

False. People use openers because they don't draft quality starting pitchers in BR. If you put your common or bronze SP on the mound and you run into a half decent player, you're gonna be fighting against a sizable deficit.

But anyway, you're hijacking this thread. It was about Finest Turner hitting a perfect/perfect flyball to LF for a flyout in Yankee Stadium.

Bunts should be eliminated from the MLBTS video game. With MLB going to DH in both leagues in 2022, I assume this game will follow suit and there needs to be no BUNTING!!! It is a garbage way to play the game!

I just hit a perfect flyball with Finest Trea Turner in BR to the warning track in LF. IN YANKEE STADIUM! Like wtffffffffffff if that's not broken, idk what is.

In his defense, it was against James Kaprielien. I'm assuming it was his Topps Now card, and it's a little-known fact that Trea has a "negative" quirk against TN cards.

It was lol, but I was baffled. 96 mph exit velo on a perfect/perfect. Ridiculous.

I dont get it. what’s the fun in playing like this? People are so desperate to win at a VG they will do anything…its sad.

Yeah he just really sucked at hitting which showed later on in the game when his guys lower in the order were up to bat. But hey he did manage to cheese a run in, and in BR that can be enough if you don't get rewarded on 9 good swings. It happened to me before.

    Edit:
Here's the game log, scroll all the way down to perfects and you'll see it.
Also, if you play like my opponent in the 1st inning you should walk off a cliff.

Have to admit, I don’t mind the random times a perfect perfect doesn’t sail out of the stadium. As a lifelong player in real life, definitely a handful of times I connected with a pitch and thought “yep, got ALL of that” only for it to fall 15 feet short of the fence, and power was never an issue for me.

I know it’s a little different in a video game, but does being a sense of realism in my eyes

I guess if we were playing in a big park like Kansas City. But this was Yankees stadium with a guy who has 125/100+ hitting. And it wasn't a lineout either, I'd be okay with that. This was a perfect/perfect flyball that died on the warning track.

People use openers because your pen is generally better than your rotation, the way most draft.

Blame pitcher confidence, nothing else to it. It's painfully annoying honestly. It usually starts above halfway. When pitcher confidence is higher it nerfs exit velocity and shrinks timing windows.

Sprinkle in the Placebo Contact Initiator and you've got yourself a certified hot mess. I hit balls harder with early timing and off PCI than Perfect hits.

There's just too much going on in the background outside of player input. Pitcher confidence, pitch confidence, invisible pitch usage penalty, timing window changes based on hitter tendencies, and the general RNG of the PCI system.

The game just doesn't make sense anymore in terms of being able to understand what you did right and wrong to then correct it.

But it was the first pitch of the game.

    Couldn’t agree with Chuck more.
I’ve given up first pitch of the game home runs and hit first pitch of the game perfect fly balls that don’t leave.

After a while it becomes clear that, as Chuck said, there’s too much going on outside of user input.

I guess. I just feel like a perfect/perfect flyball with a guy who has 100+ power should always be a homerun in an online game, unless you're playing in Polo Grounds and you hit the ball to CF.
